Which is why we will be running a 1 gap 3-4 scheme with Aranda here...

We are not undersized and the have ability to man up and take 2 gap responsibility. The question we be if we have the LBs smart enough right now to run his system.

Sorry, but have to disagree there. We would be undersized in a 2 gap system, especially at the NT spot. And 1 of the DE spots.

Was Lou Tepper's a 2-gap 3-4? They kept talking about "cerebral defense," read and react when he was there. Never worked, but I'm kinda thinking that was how he planned it.

Not sure...
But it was a 3-4, read and react style of D so im guessing it was a 2 gap system.

Good explanation and it does exactly what is supposed to do, put lots of pressure on the O. We have the talent now at DB and with the new guys coming in. Coach Raymond a great recruiter will really have to work with Aranda to understand how his DB's will have to cover. This past year we had great "Individual" DB's, but we really didn't have the Synergy. Raymond and Aranda will have to lock down the DB group to make sure they work as a team and as individuals...

Aranda's D will be aggressive and attack in spots but every defense is read and react. LBs and run support safeties are reading keys every play.
