Kid seems first class. Dad seemed like he didn't step up to his responsibility.

From what I remember Coach McCartney was steamed when Sal told him he wouldn't marry his daughter. His feelings mellowed when Sal was diagnosed with the cancer and Bill realized the severity.

We will never hear Sal Aunese give his reasons not to marry the coach's daughter.

He didn't have cancer when he refused to marry TC's Mom.

Not marrying the daughter =/= him not being a good father. That's quite a judgment on the man, don't you think?

doesn't mean he wouldn't have been a good father, you don't have to be married to be a good father.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who disagrees with the "not a good father" assessment.

I really dont think this is a place to discuss this stuff about an LSU players private family life.
Les is a good man for getting T C to play for the tigers.

But it helps.

Weekend fathers are not always going to be there when needed.

I thought about this, but they just aired a nationwide segment about it, complete with face to face interviews. It's fair game.

Maybe we were raised differently. Was always taught if you mess up and get a girl pregnant, you step up and marry her. You take responsibility because it's not the child's fault. Watch the story again. The grandfather makes it sound like he wasn't going to do anything. "And my heart, that hurt my heart." Then they say he was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months to live. She was 8 months pregnant when they found out. Maybe he was going to take care of TC his entire life, but the story didn't make it sound like it at all.

It's a compelling story and was on Gameday and will be on Outside the Lines tomorrow. I don't judge Sal...just because wasn't ready to be a husband doesn't mean he didn't love his son.

As far as the weekend dad thing...we don't know that was the case and we never will because Sal died so young.

Nope...Mom and Dad celebrating 46 anniversary next month.

Having the parents get married is ideal IF they love each other as well. I guess over the years I've watched people get married for the sake of the child only to wind up hating each other and the child suffering because of that.

Again, I'm not judging because I don't know the whole story. I am very much a family person and believe a child should come AFTER marriage. BUT, if a child is conceived out of wedlock, it's sometimes in the child's best interest the parents NOT get married.
