It is a university rule for student athletes, not an athletic dept rule. That power was taken away from the dept to avoid any concerns of abuse of the policy by a coach. He failed mulitiple tests & given multiple opportunities thru a wide variety venues for help & he still CHOSE to break the rules. How much compassion is one person entitled to under these circumstances?
