you will probably need to be there well before that to get an actual seat. the will sell unlimited number of standing room only seats though. I actually like standing behind homeplate in the concourse level 1000x more than sitting in the student section because the view there is so fricking awful.

They actually have a cap on the number of standing room only tickets they can sell.
It might actually open before 5pm on Friday but I haven't heard anything yet.

Yeah I would rather get SRO as opposed to Student Section any day. My family sits in CF and loves it; as do I, except when it's cold and windy.
Also, the SS at baseball games, until LSU is in postseason, is pretty tame. The left field bleacher fans make more noise...and students, for whatever reason at baseball games, tend to want to stay about 4 innings. Yes, the seats are probably the worst in the stadium.
If you can pull it off and get by the patrol of the 90 year old Seat Nazis (marshalls), there are always purple seats that are empty. But of you let some of those paps catch you in the act of actually sitting in those seats without a matching ticket, they might just yell at you a bit and kick you out while during the process they will tell you about how rough The Great Depression was. My way of getting past these vultures is to just tell the "Yeah, I'm going to my seat" while holding up your ticket as if you are 100 percent sure you know what you're doing. Most of these guys cannot read a ticket from 2 feet away. Be calm, go confidently swift, and let them know who's really in charge.
