1) Virginia Tech loses to Clemson.
2) Georgia beats LSU in overtime.
3) Oklahoma State blows out Oklahoma by five touchdowns.
Fallout: LSU and Oklahoma State finish #1 and #2. Georgia gets an automatic Sugar Bowl bid. Alabama gets left out of the BCS.
Shut Up!

JMO, but I think this is how it plays out because Conference Championships matter.
1) Virginia Tech blows out Clemson.
2) LSU wins.
3) Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma.
Fallout: LSU, OSU and VT are now officially Conference Champions and the voters drops Bama to #4 behind the two 1 loss Conference Champions. Alabama gets the Sugar Bowl bid and the "undefeated in regulation" Alabama team gets left out of the BCSCG because Conference Championships matter.

Alabama's worst nightmare in history.
fify......
losing to The Hat twice in one season
first, to lose their chance at an SEC Championship...
and second, to lose the BCS Title game to The Hat.
Even the most delusional Bammers will have incurable inferiority complexes toward Miles and the Tigers for at least the next decade, after this happens.
Miles and LSU will kick their asses every year and even up the score from the Bear Bryant era.
Then history will show...
Les Miles = Bear Bryant
and
Nick Saban = Cholly Mac

Does a Houston loss help or hurt Alabama?

Good question. I would think a loss may not help but it certainly would be in their favor.
If Houston were to win, they'd be undefeated and the winner of their conference. Conference champs over a 1 loss not even SEC division winner could hurt them with the voters.
Yeah, I know, it is conference USA but they'd still be conference champs.

I'll settle for 1 and 3.

Assuming that at least a few voters had Houston ahead of Oklahoma State, it will hurt Alabama.
