Here's the difference between the dedication to and interest in college football in Alabama: Most of the daily newpapers in Alabama have two columns about college football in the sports pages 365 days a year. There are a dozen or more radio stations dedicated to sports and college football is the main topic every day of the year - and the discussion is as hot and heavy in February as it is in November. I live in New Orleans and sports radio here is more interested in Tulane Baseball than LSU Football. The Times Picayune dedicates more ink to UNO Basketball than LSU Football. That's why so many New Orleans prospects leave Louisiana - New Orleans is an LSU dead zone. I see Alabama on television in New Olreans more often than LSU.

You Tiger fans think Louisiana is a college football state but you're mere pikers compared to the 24/7 mainline injection of college football debate and discussion that occurs in every city in the state of Alabama in the sports pages, on the radio airwaves, and in every office, business, school, playground, and honkeytonk in the state. Alabama is the Mecca of College Football and Louisiana is it's trashy cousin from the poor side of the family.

Not to fuel the fire against Finebaum, but here is a story as to why I will never respect Paul Finebaum. It was during the spring right after Saban was hired. Anyhow, for some reason Finebaum would NOT get off the subject of Tom Brady having a baby when he wasn't married. He called it the worst sin of all, having a child when you aren't married to the woman. Anyhow, a priest called in and disputed Paul on basically everything he said. The priest hung up and that was that...25 minutes later another priest called and schooled Finebaum on everything he just said. He made Finebaum look like an idiot, so what did he do to save face? He said this, and this is close to verbatim, "I don't even really know if a lot of things are sins these days. Aren't there a bunch of commandments or something that outline the big ones? Aren't a lot of people told they're sinning when they're not." He basically acted like the Bible was a random book. I may not go to church every Sunday or read the Bible daily, but I believe in God and wouldn't come close to mocking Christianity for the world to hear. He has no class and if you've seen the guy, well, would you even want to talk to him in person if given the chance? I wouldn't. Listen to Bill King on Rivals Radio. He does another show on www.wnsr.com at 3:00 M-F. He voices his UT homerism and talk a lot about different schools. His co-host is Joe Biddle, who is really good and knows his stuff.
