Yea, saying stuff like that, I'm calling you stupid.
Two historic losses for the program in the same season, and you say he's doing better than the most successful coach in our history.

Well prove me wrong then... if O goes 6-2 this year that would be better than Miles had done since like 2012.... Miles went downhill from there all while the SEC was going downhill.... but let's see the last two full years Miles was here he lost to Bama and the next week got his shot caved in by two crappy Arlie teams.... O lost last year to Bama and the team destroyed Arlie and A&M....

State and Troy. What do I win?

What was Miles SEC records the last two full seasons he was here against a crappy SEC????

Not being negative, but that's a big little word right there. Let's win them first.
Having said that, I agree that the job has been remarkable since Troy. Frankly, LSU looked merely rusty against BYU. Against MSU, they looked completely outclassed in every aspect of the game. We looked sluggish and hungover against Cuse then looked like Troy is the appropriate level of opponent.
It has not been pretty since, but to imagine that team that got wasted by MSU and lost to Troy was able to get past Auburn, Florida and go toe-to-toe with Bama is nothing short of remarkable.

So again, I need to give O credit for getting us out of a hole he dug?
You sound like the kind of person who will never give o credit for anything. I didn't want him hired either. I was livid when they gave him the job. But if you can't see improvement and that this thing is headed in the right direction, then you don't want to see it. This team is very young and the future looks bright.
I will say my biggest and remaining concern is relying on hiring elite coordinators and the turnover that comes with that. if we can keep the coordinators several years we will be back in contention.

Or I sound like the person that sees that we are improved for a historical low point that he got us to. He had nowhere to go but up. I'll be willing to give him credit if we close this season out on a 4 game win streak and start kicking arse next year. But right now all he's done is get us back to where we were when we fired a guy for not competing for championships. Color me not impressed yet.

This didn't really happen though.

So you're making no implication to one of them being worse than the other? You're just bringing this up for shite and giggles?
The guy said the two losses were nothing alike. The only thing I can think of is the big amount of freshmen playing this year.
If you can think of another reason post it. Or you can just do another shite post like normal.

You need a new phrase.

Except that it did. Sure, football is a game of inches and every losing team can say, "Well, if this play..." - etc. I'm not saying that.
I'm saying we gained more yards. We moved the ball. We lost the field position battle. We lost the "big play" battle. I mean, it wasn't a nail biter. We've had those in the series, recently - in fact that's more rule than exception, when you think about it.
But, more broadly - the things that football is actually about - running, passing, blocking, tackling - about the only thing we were outmatched on was the running ability of their quarterback and their punter. That's what I'm talking about.
After watching the team lose so badly to MSU and drop a game LSU should never, ever lose (Troy), that was refreshing. I don't believe in moral victories. I don't have an aversion to "winning ugly" like some negas. But - in this limited case - based on the performance of the team for the first third of the schedule, I can be positive about the loss.

We were never closer than 11. Yea, we did some Ok things, but the game was never really in doubt.

Did we look better vs bama than in 2015? Yes or no?

We lost both games by 14 in games that were decided fairly early.

True.

Also true - mostly.
Compare that to the 10-0 loss in Tiger Stadium last year. It was 0-0 for how long? Over 45 minutes.
But, they outgained us 2.5x. We won the turnover battle. With 2 of the 15 best SEC backs of the last decade on the roster at the same time, we gained 1.2 yards per carry. We averaged 1.5 first downs per quarter.
That was a 10 point loss, but felt worse than the 14 points this past Saturday. A loss is a loss, but the analysis can't stop there. Can it?

I'm failing to see how we went toe to toe with a team while losing by 14.

We had less than half the yards and 1st downs and time of possession that bama had in '15. We got dominated. This year we outgained them and left several big plays on the field. The last 2 years we competed and were only a handful of plays away from beating them. Miles was never going to beat or compete with bama again with that 1950's offense. Like I said, you seem like you don't want to give coach o any credit.

And yet the margin of defeat was exactly the same.

So you ignore 2014 when we took them to OT with Anthony Jennings as QB?

If you couldn't recognize the trend was going down with Miles, then I guess I can't expect you to see the upward trend with coach o.

I'll recognize that O first had us trending waaaaaay down by losing to state and troy. I will acknowledge he got us back to where we were with Miles.
Will I celebrate this "upward trend?" Not right now, no.
