Wade is not the best thing to happen to lsu basketball. He gave us some exciting seasons but the idea is you leave the program better off than you got here. He has not. All of these sanctions are 100% on Wade. Nobody else. He’s the only one.
You ride it out with your coach who the players obviously love. You see what a neutered ncaa actually tries to do with NIL here. You take your lumps since NCAA can’t overreach too far for fear of losing control of college athletics and you let Wade continue to build.
Leaving program in shambles with their dick in their hand is on administration not Wade. Program would be in much better shape in 2 to 3 years with Wade at the helm than whatever mass exodus and return to being a shite show the athletic department is about to hit us with. Feckless pussies is my opinion. Woodward and Tate handled the situation as terribly as Alleva and King Alexander.

They think Woody will hire a whale.
They don’t realize LSU basketball ain’t the same as LSU football and baseball.
LSU isn't a "women's basketball school" either, and they recently made arguably the most surprising hire in a decade or more when they got a coach to leave a perennial top 5 program she built to come rebuild LSU. So it CAN be done.

LSU basketball clearly doesn't have the same gravitas as LSU football (though it very much did in the 1980's). And LSU is fortunate with baseball in that it is one of the very few schools in the nation that actually gives a shite about the sport. So pulling in a big name basketball coach will probably be the most difficult task of the three...but that is not to say it can't be done.

My only hope is that Woody has been itching for this moment since the day he was hired. He couldn’t wait to fire Will Wade. We’ll see who he’s been talking to.
Woodward did not like Wade. I said that multiple times in the past on this board and got downvoted tremendously for even suggesting such. Given the swiftness and TIMING of the firing I think it is very clear Woodward knew he was going to make that move eventually. So my hope, like yours, is that he has been vetting the market for some time now and getting the money people behind him for the hire. We'll see.
Even with the potential of sanctions looming, nothing in Woodward's track record suggests he is even considering a young, "up and comer" from a mid-major program. That has not been his MO. Buzz Williams was brought in from a Va. Tech program that he had competing at the top of the ACC. Many fans here were certain Cliff Godwin at ECU was in strong consideration for the baseball job. He wasn't. It was always big name coaches. In football you had many convinced Billy Napier was in consideration. He NEVER was, even though he lobbied very hard for the job.

We were very lucky to have a Hall of Fame coach that grew up 40 miles from campus, had a son play for a national title runner up here at LSU, and was ready for a new challenge after winning multiple national titles at a program she built from nothing. Perhaps she wanted to give her resume a boost knowing that matching Gino at UConn or Summit at Tennessee would be almost impossible. She could win a title at two schools, something they never did (I’m guessing no one has done it in the women’s game).

I’m holding out hope. But I just don’t see him convincing a proven coach to leave their current winning program to take over a complete restart here at LSU, which isn’t a community that lives and dies with basketball.
