I totally relate with the getting chills part. I ALWAYS get chills when I hear the first part of that song.
I just got chills thinking about it when I read your post. I went overseas for three years and wasn't able to make any games. I got back to the States in the Fall of 03 - and the first time I heard pregame, I had tears rolling down my cheeks.

The "aura" of Bear died when he did. Let's stop pretending that he's relevent now.
The grove is the most overrated, overhyped BS excuse for "atmosphere" in the SEC.

Five things to love about the Big East
quote:
A real league race: Forget those phony-baloney conference championship games. The Big East and the Pac-10 are the only BCS leagues that play a true round-robin conference schedule, which is the best way to determine a champion. And since USC seems to lock up the Pac-10 by late October every year, the Big East has the best and most exciting conference race of the BCS leagues. It helps that conference officials wisely try to schedule what they think will be the most important games for the end of the season, leaving lots of suspense and intrigue throughout the fall. I'll take that anytime over some convoluted tiebreaker system that results in a lackluster conference title-game rematch on a neutral field.
is this guy serious?

I was gonna mention that, too, but it deserves it's own thread.

ETA: ignore the headline. that's the hate list for the SEC.
Anyone notice the hate list for the Pac-10?
quote:
3. Pac-10 fans are too smart for their own good: When fans from other conferences get angry, they fire off EXPLETIVE-LADEN RANTS IN ALL CAPS that often show no regard for spelling, punctuation or logic. These are easy to deal with. In the Pac-10, fans e-mail me 10,000-word essays with color-coded flow charts and phrases like, "If you only understood the basics of zone blocking and the Hadwiger conjecture relating coloring to clique minors, then you'd understand that Oregon State defensive coordinator Mark Banker grows linebackers in his greenhouse while reading Proust." Responding to those is more taxing.
Is that really an insult? Way to really put it out there that you think other fans are retarded.
