Yardage is one thing. Points and red zone conversion is another. Balance is a great thing too.

Making comparisons between this offense (new OC, QB coach, personnel in some areas) to previous ones is ridiculous.

Just doing a quick run through:

2011 Offensive Points:
vs. Oregon - 34
vs. NWST. - who cares
vs. MSU - 19
vs. WVU - 40
vs. UK - 28

30.25 points per game on offense in 2011.

I don't feel like going through it for 2010, but I'm sure it's an improvement. We've cashed in on TDs better. We don't run it as effectively and throw it a bit more effectively (assuming you are going off first half results from last year).

It's a mixed bag of results.

It's a much more conservative offense and difficult to compare last to this.

Not comparing offenses ... comparing results. Last year through 4 games LSU struggled in the red zone. This year they've been almost perfect. Read into it what you will.

If you were a fair minded person (which you are not) you would also point out the rabid "knighting" and defense for the mediocrity last season and the other guy, the one you like.

This is so old Roger. Give it up. It's tired and not true and frankly, you are smarter than this.

Neither of these guys are superstars, and we probably need both. One isn't better than the other.

I've been saying this shite for months.

I just broke it down, but we're actually averaging about 30.2 points a game on offense, which is about the same as last year.

The D/ST are just scoring at a ridiculous rate right now.

Why don't you read the offensive stats in this thread and then tell me if this is better than last year?

And You Want to Go Back to 2010?

Defense and special teams are the difference.

6 damn yards difference in yards per game. After 5 games and our toughest Ds coming, versus last years whole season.

Why is anyone knighting for anything.

It seems the best we got is pretty damn mediocre.

YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO BE AN LSU TIGER FAN

You gotta be a Gump crossdressing as a Tiger

Points per game scored SON = 38

These were our Championship year stats in 2007 and we are matching them in 2011. They compare favorably with any stats from the SEC in the last decade for Championship Teams

Now the vicious statistic LSU is allowing 6 points per game against SEC competition and the defense just had it's first "solid overall" performance (few missed tackles) and they're getting better each week playing the whole roster

I had to get the 2011 Preview out with all the new numbers I saw coming out there
