Three items to show how different Coaches Les Miles and Nick Saban are from one another:

1. Coach Miles drives a Cadillac Escalade and Coach Saban has someone driving him around in a Mercedes

2. Coach Miles brings his children to school in the morning, doubt that is something Coach Saban would have ever done

3. On first day of practice, Coach Miles walked into locker room and there was music blaring. He did not tell the players to change it or turn it down; instead he broke into a dance. On Monday, the Alabama players hid in a dark room and yelled Happy Birthday surprise to Coach Saban, who responded by saying thank you and then went directly into his discussion about practice.

Coach Miles will have a looser team come Saturday. I read an article where Coach Saban is stressing to his players not to peak and come in tight to the game Saturday. I think they come in tight due to his personality.

All valid points but if we lose Saturday everyone and their grandma will be saying that Les should have tightened up this week.

I think what the OP is trying to insinuate is that Miles tries to spend time with his family whenever possible, while Saban does not.

IIRC, Saban once forgot his wife's anniversary because he was too busy preparing for a game. I doubt Miles would ever have done this.

Does this have bearing on the football field? No. But it does speak to the character of each of these men.

to put that as a noticeable difference...how is that noticeable? Does he know for a fact that Saban doesn't take his kids to school? At least sometimes when needed, doesn't have to be everyday. Is that supposed to be a hit on how Saban is as a dad?

Saban has at least 100,000 people that like him. Do you have that many people wanting to be your friend?

Let me tell you something, Jordy Hultberg is about the biggest "paint the best picture possible" guy I've even heard of in my entire life. If that guy tells you that Nick wasn't a nice human being you can take that shite to the bank. Jordy will tell you many stories if you're with him away from the public eye.

Let's not speculate on whether or not Saban would take his children to school.

We all know he'd never allow them out of their cages during the football season. Kids disrupt The Process(tm).

Saban is always preaching about reaching some ideal, "being the best team we can be". Miles preaches about playing for victory which I'd bet is much more tangible to the average college player.

Miles seem to be able to enjoy winning more. just my opinion.

I don't take my kids anywhere. But I love em. You guys are crazy for all the Saban is evil talk. I love Miles, but if his wife took the kids to school I would not have a different opinion

One key difference - commitment...

"There was some misinformation on ESPN and I think it's imperative that I straighten it out. I am the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach at LSU. I have no interest in talking to anybody else. I've got a championship game to play, and I am excited about the opportunity of my damn strong football team to play in it. That's really all I'd like to say. It was unfortunate that I had to address my team with this information this morning. With that being done, I think we'd be ready to play. There will be no questions for me. I represent me in this issue. Please ask me after. I'm busy. Thank you very much. Have a great day."

It has nothing to do with football but Saban has said many times himself that he regrets the way he neglected his son when he was growing up and felt like he was at times a lousy parent. That's because his son got into drugs big time at Catholic High and had to leave the school. The same reason he didn't want him anywhere near Miami. I had friends that knew the kid, he was pretty screwed up.

Again, has nothing to do with football, for me personally though, I would feel incredible remorse to have reached the pinnacle of one of the most successful careers in my profession and yet, to get to that point, felt like I neglected my kids in their most critical formative years. It's kind of like he chose a career over his children, not that that's uncommen these days and is fairly typical, but I guess unfortunate to say the least.

You failed to mention or just forgot that football is a Business to Nick Saban, he said that back when he was coach at LSU. To Miles, it's a profession that he just happens to enjoy & loves the College Atmosphere that surrounds college football. It's night & day between these two guys, Miles would coach for free if he could, Saban is in it for the Money.Like the Mafia says, it's not personnel, just Business.PS, still appreciate Nick waking up the sleeping giant, Geaux Tigas
