Goes 7-5 with very close losses. Including 12-17 to #1 USC, and 0-3 to #1 Bama. I see alot of similarities. Plus Ensminger was the QB of I'm not mistaken.

LSU in an upset surely would have spawned improvement + team morale thus success! It was that BIG! Ensminger was literally a one man catalyst that night.

And we went 7-4.
Followed by 3-7-1 the following year.

People don’t realize how good it’s been recently.

He knew it as his last before the season started.... board of directors wanted to let him go in 78’ but Dietzel convinced them to let him finish his contract and retire after 79’

The coach LSU hired died in a plane crash, which created panic, and chaos, nothing against Jerry Stovall.

I was a sophomore at LSU for the USC game in 1979. Electric!!!!! Heartbreaker at the end though

that Bama game was played in rain and cold and 3-0 felt like 30-0 - you never felt like LSU was going to score or had a chance and the crowd was nothing like the USC game 2 months earlier

We had them stopped and should have won. Got fricked by the refs and it was incredibly blatant.
