It makes no sense to slow play these two kids who are either committed or leaning to Michigan just because we're pursuing bigger fish. LSU likely needs four receivers in this class, and it's really ambitious if they think they're signing several of the out-of-state guys.
If receivers "grow on trees" in Louisiana, who are they this year? The guys we're supposedly not pushing for, but allowing them to go to Michigan?
The transfer portal should be a last resort, something you go to when you failed at recruiting in the first place. Last year's defense had a bunch of portal guys, and that defense was miserable. The search for defensive tackles in the portal didn't go well in the Spring, either.
I'm sure that I'm in the minority, but I just am not sold on the wide receiver recruiting up to now. If they can reel in one of the big fish (and hold on to him) I would certainly feel much better. Strike out on them all, and things will look bleak.

Hankton is a great developer but not a great recruiter, never has been. Also receiver is a position that NIL plays a major role in. Receivers are divas, divas want to get the most nil they possibly can up front, lsu isn’t offering that to any of the top guys (compared to their other nil offers). We’ll still land some solid WR’s just gotta hope hankton keeps developing them like he has.
Rosemy-Jacksaint #55 overall
Jalen Brown #68 overall
Billiot #139 overall
Watkins #167 overall
Plus 8 more 4 stars, 3 of which were inside the top 235 overall, and another being Adonai Mitchell.
This is in a 6 year span.

In my mind Hankton was a top tier recruiter also but that makes sense. The WRs make you appreciate Bryce so much who made his development and future as the #1 pick in the draft the main determiner in his recruitment when he couldve set the bar with his NIL demands. I love where we are at QB, RB, TE and especially OL. After watching those 7v7 clips Berry could very much be used out of the backfield and lined up in the slot as a reciever quite a bit. He will be a match up nightmare
