re: With Chaisson gone, would we be in a better position for Burch

Brooks is way too light to emulate Chaisson. Chaisson in 3 years at LSU is 6'4" 250. Brooks after 1 year is 6'2" 195. As I said, Phillip Webb is the comparison to Chaisson if he can do in college what clearly he has done in HS if you watch the video of him. Right now before college he is 6'4" 225. Brooks who I think is going to be fantastic BTW is probably going to be a safety unless he adds a lot of weight...too light to play LBer.

Webb and a Brooks are both gonna be great pass rushers

Brooks is a safety

Stevens likely does slide down or we run 3 S out there. Harris and Hampton are the S next year. Of course who we hire and what they run will matter. Brooks is the one without a position in a traditional 3-4 or 4-3 but he's the perfect hybrid that every school tries to have one of to defend the spread. That ultimate domini that can line up anywhere and do anything including rush the passer. Essentially the position Stevens plays now. I just don't see him bulking up to play DE or full time OLB. And not utilizing his pass rush ability would take away from his gifts.

I say that Brooks can be the Delpit from 2018. They didn't use Delpit this way in 2019 much but in 2018, Delpit was being used like T Mathieu. They were blitzing him like crazy from his S position. This year they used him a lot more in pass coverage. Even though he won the Thorpe award, I thought Delpit had a better 2018 than 2019. Brooks could play the same role rushing the passer than Delpit did 2 year s ago
