Baton Rouge is better than Knoxville.

Sorry hoss can't agree with you. BR = steaming pile of poverty ridden shite.

Sort of like walking through knoxville had it been hit with a nuclear weapon and been through 15 years of russian occupation.

BR may be hiring right now but we are definitely one of the poorer cities in the country. LA as a whole ranks in the bottom 3 in almost all the major poverty statistics

Kind of how it looks now?

I'd bet you could blindfold someone, and take them to various towns throughout the south.

They'd have a hard time telling the difference between Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Starkville, etc.

The food would all taste about the same. The people would all sound about the same. they'd probably all smell the same, too.

All cookie cutter. All forgettable. until that same blindfolded guy arrived in Baton Rouge...

He'd be like, well it's 100 degrees in a 100% humidity with a lot of swamps and poor people.

Hot damn I must be in LA.

LA has good food, and I love New Orleans. but absolutely nothing you can make up about BR will change my perspective on it.

Newark is 20 minutes from Manahatten, it doesn't make it awesome.

the metropolitan area with the most optimistic forecast of all for hiring this winter is Baton Rouge, La.

quote:

"Over the last 24 months we have seen significant economic development in a lot of sectors," says Adam Knapp, president and chief executive officer of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.

"The region has been cited in various rankings over the past year for having one of the strongest growth economies." He says Baton Rouge stayed strong throughout the recession: "Unlike a lot of regions, the firms here aren't adding jobs now because they cut back during the economic downturn.

We are adding to what we already had, and starting new firms entirely."

quote:

Baton Rouge is enjoying growth in digital media, biofuels and wood products and construction. Three hospitals are building new facilities, so new jobs are expected in health care too.

Best and Worst Cities for Jobs in 2011

IDGAD what you think about Baton Rouge. Informed opinion says differently.

Knoxville on the other hand:

quote:

Tennessee’s economy is slowly on the mend, but it likely will be another two years before it fully recovers from the recession, University of Tennessee economists said today in the 2010 Economic Report to the Governor.

I'll concede this much.

Baton Rouge - Poverty/crime ridden city. where they are hiring

Guanghzho, China is growing and creating jobs at an infintely higher rate, than let's say San Fransico, does that make it a better city?
