I’m guessing he didn’t understand the story correctly.
1. The prospect was not committed.
2. The prospect wanted a Clemson offer, but had not received one because Clemson favored Flowe.
3. Clemson felt it lead for Flowe, but apparently learned last week that Flowe was likely to land somewhere else.
4. Clemson brought Simpson in for an OV, offered, and he committed.
Seems pretty straight forward and not strange in any way other than Clemson was lucky that it had a 5 star LB right in its backyard that grew up loving Clemson that Clemson could “fall back on” when it appeared it’s Target was going to go elsewhere.

Clemson thought they were getting Justin flowe. Now that it looks like he is going to Oregon they offered Simpson.

The answer is Justin Flowe. Clemson had 1 spot at LB left and Flowe was slated to take it. Now that Flowe is shifting away from Clemson they offered the next guy on their list, who happens to be another damn good player

He’s not really going to be a pass rusher. He’ll be a 4-3 LB. Him signing there is part of the reason that Flowe is trending towards Oregon.

Flowe was trending to Oregon before they brought in Simpson for a visit.
