Not a fan of the UA game. (I mean the actual game.) It's like watching a 7 on 7 tourny. The Army AA presentation, etc. is a bit boring, but I enjoy the game better because it's more like a real college football game.

If I was a running back, linebacker, or offensive lineman, I'd go to the Army AA game. If I was a QB, WR, DB or defensive lineman I'd go to the UA AA game.

keep seeing this, but dont get why you ppl think it guarantees anything or means all that much. Nothing is coming down on Auburn any time soon; UNC has been dealing w/ issues for longer and nothing has been handed down yet.
would you go to a school knowing that in 2 years it might be on probation? i wouldn't

I wouldn't either.

And for some reason, I can't see Chizik releasing him from his LOI (like Kiffin did for Seantrel after the NCAA judgement). He just appears more stubborn.

Gonna have to go deep in the play-offs.

Yeah, and I doubt he sees anything less than double teams from here on out.

Walker will have to win a few games, but atleast he will be playing 4 quarters in these games compared to earlier in the year. Also a lot will depend on whether or not they face passing teams.

If that coach is accurate (I assume to break, not tie), the Freak now has 67 career sacks? That's either 17 or 17.5 sacks he's had this season so far, according to different sources.

According to this article, the state record was 60, and the national record is 70. It says A.J.needed just 10 sacks to break the state record.

According to this article , Freak had 18.5 sacks as a frosh, 14.5 sacks soph., 16.5 sacks jr., for a total of 49.5 career sacks going into this season. He needed just 10.5 sacks to tie the state record, and 11.0 sacks to break the record.

I don't know how up-to-date or accurate Max Preps is, but they are the only ones I can google to easily find defensive high school stats in one place, and I can't find Anthony Johnson listed anywhere amongst the La. sack leaders, much less the national sack leaders.

ESPN said he recorded his 60th sack against McDonough 35 on 10-31-10 (I don't have insiders account). He's played against Easton and Minden since then. So he could have around 67 sacks going into the upcoming Salmen game.

Why is this shite so hard to track down, and still not have a complete answer? Is there not a Louisiana High Scool football defensive statistics page? It'd be nice to know officially how many sacks Anthony Johnson has, at least for this season.

I don't know about LA but some states still don't keep sacks as an official statistic but yet have records for it.Doesn't make much sense but what does.

But Max Preps does list Anthony Johnson as finished having 16 sacks last season in 2009-10.

However, this season, they don't even list him having one sack, which is plain frustrating.

Then in those first two articles I listed, where did the writers get their info? It has to be in one place right?

A lot of Maxpreps stats are from what coaches tell them or what a contributing guy tells them.Usually accurate but if no one reports the stats they will not have them.Only people that probably know how many he has are people close to the OP Walker team.(coaches,players,parents,etc.)

Thanks for the frustrating insight though.

Anyway to find out how many sacks Freak had in the O. Perry Walker win over Salmen tonight?

I'm searching and I find no info.

I watched Curtis & Ed Daniels tonight, and I didn't hear his name mentioned there either.

I emailed T-P prep writer Ted Lewis asking if he knew whether Freak had any sacks Friday & if the T-P would be covering AJ's pursuit of the "National Career Sack" record, and he was kind enough to respond the next day:

quote:

I don't think he had any last night.

On top of that, there is no such thing as a Louisiana career sacks record, or if someone purports to have one, it's extremely dubious. High school stat keeping, while improved over the years is generally unverifiable. That is why our policy is that we do not recognize school records by high schools and certainly not a state record for something so subjective as stats.

On the other hand, I talked to Anthony after the game. He is an imposing and impressive young man.
