I don't have a link. Hubbs on rivals posted article yesterday I believe which lead me to think he is coming and he also posted today that it looked very good. Also FL varsity mod on rivals says the kid is all Vol. Plus we just hired the guy from his high school. Family tight with Gran everything points to UT.

He's right, but his info isn't new.......or that secret. People on Scout have basically known since Monday.

Who said it was new? Hubbs post today was fairly new as well as FL varsity mod post though.

Wasn't Janzen Jackson's father offered a coaching job before he switched commitments?

That's how you're landing Johnson and one of the ways that helped you get Jackson.

Jackson father wasn't offered any coaching job. Did Kiffin help him? I am sure he did. Wilson has strong ties to Perry Walker high in NO. But he worked with Orgeron at Ol'Miss before that. There are angles you use if you have them. Kiffin will do what it takes to win. I notice Porter cashed in on his relationship with Maclin's to get his kid to LSU. That is the game. You do what you can to get the best players. Everyone does.

That's right. He wasn't actually, officially, offered a job yet.

LINK

"Janzen wants to be a coach,’’ Guidry, who coached this past season at McNeese State and formerly was head coach at Carencro, said. "He’s wanted to be a college coach his whole life. He knows that he’ll be learning from the best. He knows that he could have a coaching job there (at Tennessee) some day, as an assistant or maybe as a graduate assistant. So it was a career decision also, not just a playing decision.’’

BTW, I wasn't criticizing, just pointing out the similarity.

Jackson is wearing orange and we done nothing agaist the rules to get the kid here. If he wants to be a coach why would you not want to play for Monte Kiffin. Look how many coaches he has helped.

except for the minor violation of "simulating gameday atmosphere"

I don't wanna get into a pissing contest and take away from another RECRUITING thread but hey, I've always been a fan of monte Kiffin and I've always felt bad that he ended up with a loud-mouth dipshit son. That said, even though I have all the respect in the world for him, don't think it's going to be automatic. College and NFL are completely different, ask Spurrier, Saban, and Callahan.

I'm from the Omaha area and I had to see the Cornhuskers get all excited about having a coach with NFL experience, watch him recruit top 10 classes and then ruin the kids by running his college team like an NFL team. They spent zero time on fundamentals and never ran any contact drills.

All I'm saying is.......we'll see when this plays out if Tenn blew their money or not.

some of you UT fans are more honest with your hiring practices.

From page one of this thread:
quote:

Did Tenn take on this guy just to try to land a kicker?

quote:

No, we're also trying to land 3 DBs from STA.

Of course we don't like our competitors hiring guys from our state solely for the purpose of recruiting away our good players. The only reason O hired Wilson was to recruit New Orleans. Hell, he is the wide receivers coach at an SEC school and he has never coached wide receivers in his life.
If your state produced enough D1 guys, you wouldn't like it either.

Jackson wasn't here for that. Sorry. Even though I am sure in the violation world that is pretty weak.

Yea compare Callahan and Monte Kiffin. That is good one. I wouldn't worry how UT spends it's money. You have the highest paid coach in the conference and he just lost 5 games. We will see how your investment pans out as well.
