Damnit,a RATIONAL longhorn fan,i didnt think they exist.The guy's on the Texas Scout board are DICKS from the word go.Good post TFB

i do have to agree that Mack prefers not to fight over recruits. we have our pick of who we want usually, jsut like yall, so it works out more often than not, but i would certainly like to not lose guys just because we get into a recruiting war. i doubt Mack would back down (see, Darrell Scott, Colorado; Jamarkus McFarland, ?) but i think yall are right for the msot part
i do have to say though that i very much enjoy not hanging on the words of 18-year olds who are told everyday how fricking fabulous they are...
watch fanbases like A&M and Arkansas drool over these guys just to be passed over. that shite sucks

He's got the attitude many fans have, where he doesn't want the recruits if they don't really want to be longhorns.
Overall, Mack has just gotten very lazy & comfortable with his ability to win 10 games a year without trying very hard. He's lost his competitive edge.

we have barely snuck into 10 win seasons the last two, needing bowl games to do it. it hasnt come easy, and Mack works very hard in the recruiting field. its nice that people think that of us. but the truth is no one just shows up and reels in classes like ours or yours without a GREAT deal of effort. if you dont like Mack/Texas, than i understand the post, but i dont think this is the case.
a lot of recruits we get are hook, line, and sinker(guys who want to be Longhorns), but like Garrett Gilbert, our 5 star QB for next year's class, it only looks easy. Mack busted his arse to ensure we locked this kid up early. i wouldve loved Shpeherd to be a Longhorn, but he wants to be a QB, and we wouldve been taking two 5 star ones in the same class, which wouldve served no purpose but to create a controversy. i hate two QB systems, they never work out like Leak/Tebow did.
as a fan who follows the team pretty closely, i would disagree that Mack has lost his competetive edge at all, i never saw it more fervent than against Arizona State last year. for the first time we are starting guys who arent the seniors, and have opened up the coaching to our assistants, Muschamp and Greg Davis(OC) having much more control now than in the past.
Lazy. this word does not describe Mack in any facet of his life. the guy is up at 6 everyday and he works hard. you can say a lot of negative things about him as a coach, but this is not a fair detraction IMO

im not trying to make Mack out to be nails in the recruiting game, his class rankings say quite enough. but im just syaing, im going to be realistic about my bashes on him
i think you guys made a great point that he shys away from recuriting controversy, and maybe cant pull middle-of-the-road recruits when up against reigning national champions. but he also keeps incredible talent away from reigning national champions and keeps em coming to Texas
the guy may have adjusted his recruiting strategy to favor guys who will make for easy commits, but i dont think he is lazy, or comfortable as is. and there is now way people actually think he isnt earning these classes and rnakings in recruiting.

Mack doesn't even leave his office for Spring recruiting.

Mach needs to do more with the great in-state talent. Looks like he finally hired an SEC quality DC.
