So you base your opinion of Oliver on one game? Both are rated 3 stars by the so called experts yet you prefer the out of state kid. I don't understand the hatefest with Oliver, well except he goes to Catholic.

Both 3 stars but Rivers is rated higher. By a decent amount too.

For those in the know about the QB situations at alabumble and auburnt, why didn't they offer Rivers? no fit?

I read that his Dad was a DB at Miss. St., graduated there in '72. One story says that bama and au looked at Philip but only as a DB.

Maybe Dad has some animosity towards the home schools? I'm tryin to figure the angle on that, if there is one.

Just happy to have a quarterback in this class. Ely isn't a sure thing so relying on that is tough.

I'm not in the know but Bama most likely isn't taking a QB, they have a great shot at a top 2012 QB and have McCarron and Simms ready for the next couple of years. Auburn is putting all their eggs in the Cam Newton basket for the next two years and have a commitment from Kiehl Frazier who is ranked higher in this class.

well, maybe there was not enough room for CG afterall.

How quickly the attitude changes over a few months. People wanted to off miles' head for not playing CG. Some prob thought he should start this year.

I think this is a great pick up for us even if we dont get ely. getting a qb can help finish this class off strong. If we take two qbs we will prob have 5 qbs on scholarship next year. This would have helped in 08.

Phillip may be a bit of a douche, but he is a good leader. Hard to hate a guy who played on a fricked up knee like he did.

This. Would be nice to have some fire in the huddle-seems like ZL has some of that too. You want a QB that is collected, but, in college at least, it helps if he isn't afraid to grab a facemask in the huddle when needed.

when Philip Rivers went to NC State, he moved the family to Raleigh and took a high school coaching job there. Maybe he can give Crowton's replacement some pointers.

Seems to suggest that at least some people in the know don't think Miles is a moron.

MOST people in the know respect Miles. It's the rant retards and lazy repeat and retreat media that don't respect him.

I'm actually really excited about this committment. I know he will probably be a project, but I like the potential.

Plus, most kids who have a dad or brother in the NFL have a work ethic, dedication, film smarts and other intangibles that go along with their natural ability. (LeRon Landry, Eli Manning, Boss Bailey, Andre Caldwell, Jake Long, Clay Matthews, Marion Barber, K. Winslow, etc.)

Welcome to LSU Mr. Rivers!!

His dad was a coach. He was water boy when his big brother was in high school. he has been soaking up football from day 1.
He is the archetype of intangibles. His coach said, he is a team player. (Told a story where the coach sent in a pass play and Rivers ran a running play, because the situation called for a run, and Rivers knew the HC was trying to give him a chance to show off.
