quote:LSU is bringing back 4 LBs with Whit Weeks as the vet. They are adding 3 LBs. LSU does not run a 4-3 as a base. Because of the way LSU is structured, they have been running more 3 LBs, but Baker loves the 4-2-5. Plus now that Perk is out, the freshman Atkins will get much more play time than initially expected.
Need more linebackers than that. Maybe we can get one or two in the portal. Look how incredibly thin and young we are right now at that position, and we’re losing Greg Penn and West Weeks most likely in addition to Harold Perkins.
Unless they can get a dominant one year LB rental in the portal, i would be against getting another one.

That's a great finish. If we keep this class together AND land Stewart, would this be the best class ever at LSU?
In terms of the perceived quality of the class ON signing day, yes - That would almost definitely clear any other class we've brought in during the recruiting-rankings era (I can't speak to anything before that).
However, if we're talking about class quality with the benefit of hindsight, then it's pretty much impossible to top our 2017 class. That class had 14 of 24 total players drafted, 7 guys drafted in the top 100, and 4 first rounders. That's pretty crazy. Just for comparison, UGA's 2020 class (the most recent to have gone thru a full 4yr cycle) was ranked #1 in the country, and had a total of 7 guys drafted (with another 2 or 3 who will be drafted this coming year). They'll wind up with 3 first rounders.

More safeties please, it is by far our weakest position.

The reason we have a shitty defense is because of players like Burns, Penn, and Sage. Add to it the shitty interior DL.
If you add anybody you add somebody out of the portal not more high school recruits.
Based on your opinion we should just replace ducking everyone.

Would be an excellent class, Stewart or not. Much deeper and well rounded than last years. There will be higher ranked classes but not better ones. Not on paper. Excellent job. Of course expecting things to remain as currently constructed is generally not wise.

Nah. Not another HS recruit, anyway. What we need is someone with experience and 1 year to play out of the portal to stabilize things next season. Work the young guys in next season and let them take over in 26.
