I saw his Dad play at Brother Martin in the mid-80s and the dude was a pure athlete - fast as hell.
I know nothing of his son though.

So are you saying his dad had a Burst?

His dad Shawn and his uncle Benny both played for Tulane in the early to mid eighties. Benny was plenty fast, and both had some big games against LSU.

Northlake is a really small school. Went there through middle school. It has grown since then (no football team back in my day), but gets a bit overshadowed by St Paul's and Mandeville.
Know absolutely nothing about the kid, sorry.

Shawn Burst had letters of interest from over 20 schools including Notre Dame. He had full offers from Arkansas, Tulane and Nichols and preferred walk on offers from ULL, Miss state and USM. See www.shawnburst.com
He has been all state 3 years running and a two way player both tightend, and middle linebacker. He has also played fullback and longsnapper.
His mother is an LSU alum from the 80's and he grew up a tiger fan.

I played against the kid this past year.. To be honest, he wasn't anything special (IMO) and I was surprised to see him even get a preferred walk on spot.

full offer from Arkansas and walk-on offer from ULL? That sounds accurate.

Preferred walk-on status from UL-L is not a good sign.
