So to those in the recruiting know, what is RB plans for 2018?
We obviously missed this year and are very light and it needs to be priority in next couple classes. Browsing the 2018 rankings there aren't that many guys with LSU on their lists.

The couple like Franklin out of Mississippi and Anthony Williams more locally have LSU on lists but have no offers.
They need to get in on some of these guys now before we end up with another Etienne situation, which still blows my mind why we wouldn't recruit that guy, putting all eggs in the Akers basket.

We will be the most desirable school for RBs in 2018. Proven ability to put RBs into the NFL plus a gaping hole after Guice.
Give it a couple months and watch the situation develop after Summer camps.

ETA: my guess is we end up with Franklin and make a hard run at Lorenzo Lingard.

This. LSU has produced a steady flow of NFL backs in recent years and has been great at RB since Faulk. After 2017, LSU will have Ware, Blue, Fournette, Guice, Hill and Magee all in the NFL. If you want to go to the league, go to LSU.

And with the potential hire of Larry Porter as our running backs coach we will be in a great position to pull Zamir White out of NC

Nama doesn't have that many do they. I just don't understand why do they pick championships over a long nfl career.

Bama has put Ingram, Richardson, Lacy and Henry in since Saban got here. Ingram took awhile but has been good/top 10. Richardson and Lacy had good first years but have been busts. I think Henry could be a Richardson/Lacy type, but we'll have to see.

All those guys were household names at bama. We do a running back by committee and still put just about every dude that sees the field into the league. And most of the time they perform too

It's only gonna get better once two of the top 5 RBs to ever suit up for LSU enter the league.

I mean Ware took awhile but has taken advantage of his opportunity.. Blue might be the best back up RB in the league, if not top 5. Bama backs are drastically overhyped coming out of college.

Because they get ran into the ground there. LSU's guys do much more with much less carries in school, then they go into the NFL more fresh and ready to have a solid 5-8 years career

we did not "miss" this year. our signee has a lot of potential. but my many years of watching recruiting has taught me that when we are short on a position and immediate playing time is eminent a lot of players take note and we sign a lot of them. simply put, I ain't worried about signing RB's next year. AND, that one position where a true freshman can step in and play immediately.

Yeah, yeah we did.
We missed on target #1 and target #2. There was no target #3.
CEH is a change of pace APB - not an every down back.

I understand sunshine pumping but you live in a fantasy world.

Satan runs his running backs in the ground like Bum Phillips did to Earl Campbell. A persons body can only take so much phisical abuse

Blue is behind a top 10 back and still gets 10+ carries a game.

Pulling Zamir White would be insane. But it's exactly the kind of pull we need.

Franklin is a must get imo. Need to get him an offer ASAP and make him feel like he is a priority because he really really is.

Hopefully O's history in MS will help here, and another reason this RB coach hire is huge.

Richardson was a bust. Not even Bama fans would dispute that. Ingram has been serviceable. Lacy has had some good years at Green Bay.

I don't really think their lack of NFL productivity is because they were worn out at Bama. Even a rundown back ought to have a couple of good years.
