Depends on how draconian your sanctions are.

Yeah and 2 years of "draconian santions" must mean you'll never have a full squad even 9 years later. And when your lack of coaching/program building skills gets you fired a decade later, those "draconian sanctions" even affect your coaching ability at a new school, where chances are you'll never be able to maintain a full team.

Who is the HC you are talking about??? I thought he was one of the best HCs if not the best in college basketball (according to his supporters here, about 5 of them).

Too bad, he couldn't even win in the Sun Belt conference (with a team loaded with Seniors and juniors). I expect this loser will be fired again at ASU after 2 more years there

alright, lets try not to shite all over this thread. Maybe we can keep it updated with new recruits/commits all season.

Matt Derenbecker

This kid is really book-smart. Stanford and Harvard have been recruiting him for awhile. And Georgetown just started getting in as well.

Going into this year, I thought he was 90% LSU, now I would say its about 50/50

can LSU recruit anyone who weighs more than 200lbs. its getting ridiculous. we are so small that it enables us to be physical. Saturday i saw somebody just take the ball from Chris Johnson because he is so small and weak. We dont need a 215 PF. Wee need a 230-240lb PF with some strength to bang in the post.

I watched the replay of the 1A championship game on Cox the other day and Derenbecker shot lights out in the game, has a nice left handed shot and is at least 6'6".

Agreed. I was at the game and Matt was easily the most polished player on the court. If LSU doesn't get him some ACC school probably will. Moves well without the ball, has a quick release and decent athleticism.

Is that 50% LSU versus 50% the field, or is that 50% LSU versus 50% a particular school?

50% LSU....50% field...LSU has been recruiting him hard since after his freshman year at Ponchatoula High. Now with so many schools offering the top tier education along with good program, it might be a lil harder to keep him in state than it was originally looking.

I watched the Cox replay too and Derenbecker is a legit shooter. I think he's the prize recruit from CD. Ludwig is a nice pickup but Derenbecker is the one LSU really wants from that team.

TJ is doing the right things so far.....try and get the best players from these in-state championship teams....start there and build some continuity and consistentcy between recruiting classes.

Overplayed for a sports athlete. Going to good public university as a scholarship athlete can easily get you just as good of an undergrad education as anywhere else. Even if he had the time to do research as an undergrad, he is more likely to do undergrad research at LSU than almost any other university in the nation.

Now if he just wants a more prestigious diploma, more power to him I guess. But if you are a successful college basketball player (not even talking about NBA caliber successful) you don't need a prestigious diploma on your wall.

How did the big schools miss out on him AND his brother? Especially since their father is a former NBA player. Makes no sense.
