Not that I remember. We've run into a room issue before but not with this number of seriously interested high caliber players still on the board.

And the fact that it's July..we still have plenty of time before February. By the way we are going, we will be at 25 before the first game. I'm sure some will want to wait until National Signing Day though.

It's too hard to just pick 5 cause we have such a good shot with each of them! It's mindboggling.
-Willis
-Williams
-Gilmore
-Robinson
-Pagano
-Make room for -> Beckwith/Prevot - still on the fence about both of these. Prevot seems more likely. I get the feeling beckwith might play around with us and bama, but with us definitely ahead of bama.

ricky seals would be an incredible commit just for how athletic he is being 6'6 and as fast as he is. he seems unpredictable to me. any school would make room for him and many sites try to give the impression he's leaning to texas. but if he were to commit, i could definitely see him decommitting once more.

And why does 247 list Pagano as just a 3*? is it his 5.31 40time or does anyone think he'll get his 4th later? I don't usually pay much attention to * ratings, but just noticed this. I want him just as an attempt for a hawaiian pipeline, those samoan guys are just naturally strong and husky with big boned frames!

we miss on:

The question is, how does CLM handle RB, Taylor, as it sounds like he is fine.
What about the OL, Andy Dodd?

I think that even though we a pulling hard for fournette(?), i think we should take taylor. Fournette is good enough that he will get playing time regardless. He is that good.

Robinson
Williams
Gilmore
Crayton
Beckwith
Dodd - would be a good pick up if switching soon

Just don't think we will get these two but they are obvious takes if they want to commit

Willis - looking better after Redfield's commit to USC
RSJ

These next few guys are just going to miss out unfortunately - Wouldn't mind if the JUCO TE went else where and we could use that spot for someone else

Pagano - would rather have crayton
Prevot - not going to leave the state of Texas
Taylor - too much depth right now and too much talent in next years class

Here are two quotes I ran by today from Tim Williams on ESPN Insider as he was leaving FSU camp:

quote:

"No more visits this summer, strictly official visits," he said.

quote:

"It is something that I will still workout, but Florida State and Miami are recruiting me the hardest, so I will for sure be going to see those guys. And LSU."

If he doesn't sign with us I will be highly upset...

Williams is a Tiger but I agree. I wouldn't be happy if we lost him. Think we'd be fine on the field but I don't want to hear the crap that comes from the perception, either on this board or on national boards. We cannot lose a kid that lives on our campus basically.Would not look good.

I still don't understand what a non committable offer truly is.

If it was about him being healthy, should we assume his knee isn't healed. Or if it is, should we assume Les "retracted" the offer?

It really isn't a difficult concept. A non committable offer is simply one that the head coach isn't willing to accept for whatever reason at this point in time. Let's simplify the coach's problem.

Let's say you have one spot open and there are two prospects out there with offers. One is a 5-star, best in the country at his position, you have about a 50/50 chance of signing him, and he won't decide until closer to signing day. The other guy is a good guy, a solid 4 star guy, but not thought to be any where near as good as the number one guy. He wants to commit today. What do you do? Do you accept his committment and give up on #1, or do you slow play him until you have a better feel for what #1 will do?

Almost all would do the latter and not give up on #1 so quick. Multiply this by a factor of 10 and you're approaching the juggling complexity of recruiting that coaches deal with. In Adams case I have no idea what we'll do, but most likely we wouldn't accept his committment unless we wiffed on a whole bunch of other guys.

I know he's a long shot, but would Vernon Hargreaves III be must take if he decided that he wanted in? He recently announced his top 5, and LSU is still there. USC is still his favorite, but the Trojans have already taken some very highly rated DBs and are running out of room.

What do I do? I surely don't offer. Yes I slow play him, but if you offer, even with conditions, then you need to accept his committment IF he has met those conditions.
I understand the recruiting game very well, what I don't understand is offering but not accepting..just tell him his offer is not good until the #s play out...I sure the hell wouldn't have him even close to thinking its time to tweet he's a commit!
I love what Les has done and continues to do...I personally am so irritated by recruits who don't really commit..Like Fournet, dude should commit to someone and still take visits....not leave everyone in limbo when players who love LSU are in limbo>>>if only I were king! lol

The problem with this is that your approach only has a chance to work with players that have always bled purple and gold. With many, if you don't offer, they will never take you serious and will build their relationships with other coaches and teams before the numbers play out. You will condem LSU to inferior talent.

If you notice, the coaches generally follow your approach for in state players. Offers don't come freely with our home state players. However, Many oos have to be given early, well before the numbers play out, or else you will never be in the game.

As the numbers play out though, coaches should be as honest as they can, whether that involves the need for further evaluation, others taking their spot, or having to wait on others to decide. It's the only way the game can be played if you want to win.
