Public schools have tended to have specific boundaries while private schools, to my knowledge, don't. (and rightly so, if someone wants to send their child to say, a Catholic school in another parish, and can afford it they should be able to do so).

I think the most discouraging thing is that the public school supporters and the private school supporters seem to talk past each other most of the time. The private school supporters can not seem to see what it is about the old system that upsets the public schools. And the public school supporters don't seem to take into account the interest of the private schools in maintaining a system rich in history and tradition. That's just a recipe for disaster. Hopefully those making the decisions will be more reasonable on both sides.
