New Signing Periods

Can somebody brake down how this new signing deal works for me?
There is a three day period to sign in Dec. and then you have to wait until Feb. to sign if you didn’t sign in the Dec. window...? Is this right?

Yes. The early signing period was December 20, 21, & 22. The spring signing period goes from the first Wednesday in February ( the 7th this year) until April 1st.

Are we not in a dead period for most of the time between the Dec signing period and the Feb signing period?

IMHO , it will result in teams being able to laser focus between signing periods on the positions of need . So highly regarded kids at one position will just get unceremoniously dropped because teams have a need at another position. We are seeing that now with LSU focused on two corners a safety and a wr.
Moving forward I think it gives power five programs more leverage to say “ sign now or lose your spot”. It reduces the flakiness because guys know that if they string it along they may lose their spot. I think on signing day you will see guys ending up at their third and fourth choices. Like Watkins and Joiner , both of whom could have signed with Alabama or LSU in the early signing period and who both now will be forced to sign elsewhere.

The Dead Period ends next week. We have visitors coming on 1/12. Also the Dead Period only means no face to face contact. Telephone, email, text are all allowed.

And more importantly the in homes begin. Have to love Orgeron, Raymond and Aranda in the living rooms of the dB's coming down to signing day. Not sure if O has used any of his in the 4 primary kids but hope he uses the ones left wisely and timely
