2023 Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark offensive lineman Shamurad Umarov was in Baton Rouge for his official visit last weekend and came away impressed. The feeling around LSU really stood out to the 6-6, 290-pounder.

“I really enjoyed it. It was more than I was expecting and overall, it was definitely an experience that my whole family and I loved it,” Umarov told The Bengal Tiger. “Overall, the greenery caught my eye and just the culture they have down there is amazing. Going from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, it’s just amazing. Coach Davis and Kelly, their personalities are so bright. I love it.”

With Brian Kelly’s winning ways standing out already, Kelly impressed him with his personality.

When talking with offensive line coach Brad Davis, Umarov got the feel for how he can succeed on and off the field at LSU.

“He just said how good of a chance I have to getting to anywhere from the school I go to,” he said. “If I come there, I’d have the best opportunity to learn everything I need to know to get to the next level. Or, if that’s not what God has for me, later I can be in business and strive in it.”
