Kevin Gausman
Cameron Bedrosian
Garin Cecchini
Jacoby Jones
Austin Southall
Tyler Ross
Ryan Eades

All these HS prospects have a chance to go in the top 10 rounds, but doesn't mean it will happen. Signability always shows it's head when teams start calling the players on draft day.

Adam, if those players are drafted in the top 10 rounds they will not come to LSU, IMO.....what does the list of signees/prospective signees beyond those look like?

Right, I just meant on top of those 7 for sures you can still go ahead and add 2-3 more because the roster isn't currently full.

Also, there is a possibility that some on the current roster may "asked to go elsewhere"

"Is the academic trouble possibly why he didn't play Monday against Franklinton?"

No, that was for a school suspension, he was suspended that day and wasnt allowed to play

A couple of those players may be selected 6-10 rounds, but unless that team puts up a whopping 1 million like the Pirates did in rounds 6 and 8 last year then I see it coming down to the wire in August.

If I had to guess the only players I "really" worried about losing are Gausman, Bedrosian, Cecchhini, and Jones...maybe Deshields.

Guys like Hopkins, Koziol, Ross, Eades, Rumbelow, and Burris are those 2nd notch players who aren't shoe-ins to go high in the draft yet build championship teams.

This class is extremely deep and talented. When I look over the 17 man list, about 12 of them could very well be drafted.

With who LSU is losing, can any of these guys step in and play imediately?

Also, how high do you think Landry gets drafted?

I think it is pretty conceivable that LSU could lose just aboot every position player in the next two years, with only one, Dean, being a senior at the time of departure. Agree?

Are you talking this year? As in the only players we lose beside him will be Juniors?

Adam, I heard he was injured. What are the chances you think he goes to LSU, given that he is drafted after round 5?

Cecchini's been ahead of schedule as of last week in terms of his rehab. He has definently fallen out of the 1st and 2nd round, but as we all know it only takes one team to like him. If he falls below the 5th round, it would almost assure him to begin his career at LSU. He wants upwards of 1.05 million signing bonus and it would take another team going against the commissioner's slot system to sign him if that were to happen.

I was talking aboot the players that will be Juniors next year, aka. Mikie, Tyler, and probably Nola.

Gibbs and Landry will be gone this year as Juniors. So with Dean, Gaudet, Gibbs, Landry this year, and Mikie, Tyler, and Austin next year would sting quite a bit in my opinion.

I see what you're saying now.

Mahtook and Nola will likely be gone after next year, I see Hanover as a 4 year starter. Just don't see teams picking him real early with his 5'6 frame unless he just blows up ala Mike Fontenot.

This recruiting class is going to tell alot about how the 2012 season will shape up.

Adam,
What do you think about the 2011 class? How many commitments do we have so far in that class?

LSU will be very young in the next couple of years. CPM has already started to feel the effect of losing these great starting pitchers. And when they lose out on Bedrosian and Gausman, this pitching staff will be in sink or swim mode.

Six top guys in three years seems a bit too much to me.

Who were the others, outside of Colvin and ZVR?

Class of '09
Jon Michael Redding RHP, 6-1, 190 Florida Community JUCO

Ryan Chaffee RHP, 6-2, 195 Chipola JUCO

These guys, to go with Colvin, ZVR, and next year with Gausman and Bedrosian.

Mainieri's not banking on Gausman or Bedrosian. He's not stupid...sign a couple big names and hope an MLB team screws up trying to sign a deal.

We have about 8 to 9 so far, if you look on page two of this thread somebody posted the names. It's still way way to early to get a true feel on this class, but some local talents from the area highlight that class. Evan Powell, who I think played in the little league world series a couple years ago for Louisiana committed.

Chaffee and Redding were part of the 08 draft/class. I thought Redding had a chance to make it, but Chaffee was signed late in the process and Mainieri was taking a gamble with him.

I understand that he knows that, but do teams typically lose out on this much PITCHING talent, in short period of time, and still are able to have good depth?

What about the guy from LSU Eunice? Also, I am thinking Forrest Garrett and Shane Readie are injuried. Just glancing at the roster and noted the other pitchers.
