Yes. I think Little is very talented. He could be a weekend starter or huge piece of the bullpen. Another plug and play guy, and that's what we need.

I’d love to take little. A definite go after IMO

Someone will have to fact check this, but his injury sounds similar to what Josh Smith had. A stress fracture in his back. It was called a Pars Defect in the article I read, I don't know if that's the same exact thing Smith had or not.

A major back injury… that doesn’t sound promising

Hurd's back issue is concerning. Not a guy that you would want to put all of your eggs in.

True, but if the evaluation is positive, you can take a swing on that talent. My goodness, he's got talent.

I'm sure it's not something they are putting all their eggs in especially since people are projecting all this turnover but if that guy gets healthy, he's your Friday night ace so I love it. I'm sure it's nothing stopping them from adding more too.

I'm just saying you need 1-2 immediate starting pitchers. You have no idea if Hurd is that, given his back issue. If you want to take a chance, of course, but it can't be meant to address an immediate need.

I get what you're saying. We don't have just 1 or 2 spots to give out though, so plenty of reinforcements should be brought. I just can't see a scenario where this is all or nothing bringing him in.

I bet Hurd is the player Rogers referenced on AFR yesterday.

Obviously his numbers jump off the page and he was highly rated before getting to campus. But at one point he was committed to UCSB and then flipped to UCLA.
As a pitching prospect, that's pretty good pedigree.

Looking up the recovery time for a pars defect, I saw that it typically means 2 to 3 months in a back brace plus rehab to regain core strength. Fortunately, it it's diagnosed early, patients will usually heal without surgery.

Kendall Rogers just now on Twitter: “ I think I like Tennessee or LSU for Maui Ahuna.”

If we pull Ahuna, it means we have a very good recruiting staff. Tennessee is putting on a full court press for him. I'm skeptical of Kendall's info regarding anything about Tennessee though.

Idk If Hurd was the guy Rodgers referenced to because he made it seem like the guy was already in the portal which hurd wasn’t
I’d happily take a flyer on Hurd even with the back injury

You really don't have as many spots as you think unless you lose some unexpected ones to the draft, process guys, or use redshirts. Here's a list of pitchers, which doesn't include the really high risk and doesn't include Fontenot or Bollman. I think it's 22 guys. For reference, we carried 20 this year with 12 getting the bulk of the innings.

Matt also mentioned UT having a large NIL deal in place for a portal player. Hope that wasn’t Ahuna.
