Are we always going to be battling with Alabama over players, making this a personal Saban vs. Miles?? The kid had like 15 offers but "everyone" says, "It is Bama or LSU"...

I'd rather it be "Bama and LSU" rather than "Some other school & Bama" or "Some other school & LSU". Makes the rivalry that much better!

last week the gumps on tidefans were saying that he wasn't good enough for UT or OU and that he was an A&M or texas tech type of player. they also didn't think that saban was really that interested. now i'm sure he's one of the best OL's in the state

I'd like to think that this is a long recruiting process and signing day is 10 months away, but for someone who has LSU ties to pick rival Alabama, their must be something that drew him their other than saban pretending that he was their number 1 priority. (not implying a recruiting violation, just saying he must have really liked the school or something)

One of those LSU ties is his sister. I don't know about you, but a lot of guys might not want to go off to college with there sister there watching them and telling mom and dad all kind of juicy tid bits. I've written a complete backstory FWIW.

We can afford to be selective. It's a long recruiting season anyways.

If he gets evaluated in person by LSU.. and he gets an offer.. well it could get interesting.

WTF? The dude came to our lineman camp so I'm sure the coaches had good reason to pass on him.

LSU has gone away from recruiting the shorter OL and it's not like the guy was one of the top OL in Texas. LSU will sign higher rated OL from Texas this year so sober up.

I wish the guy luck.

A respected poster on the other forum claims he talked to his family, and says the coaches were very up front with the kid, but at this time could not give him a committable offer. However, he would have been a Tiger if LSU had offered. Take it for what its worth.

I believe that in all honesty. I dont' know why he couldn't have waited a little and got things sorted out

Then why not just wait before he chooses a school?

Good pickup from Bama. Although i wished the kid was a tiger the fact is that there are bigger fish in the pool right now so losing this guy does not hurt too much.

You could be right but I'm not sure that a 6-8 months delay would have mattered. From what I understand, LSU had a pretty good eval of the kid and were very honest with him.

I can't blame the guy for picking early, especially since most of us are thrilled to see a guy accept an LSU offer early. Plus, now he has some additional security if he gets hurt, etc.

Per TigerBait...

"LSU also holds the distinction of being the first school to offer Lindsay, a 6-foot-4, 320-pounder, his initial scholarship."

Who wrote that quote? An un-biased writer or a Bama one? There's a lot of controversy about the type of offer he held.

Any recruit can hold an offer dipshit...its whether the offer is a commitable or non-commitable. Every big time school offers 75 or more players a year, but not all have commitable offers.

It's obvious that it makes "Hero's" day to believe that they took one from LSU. It could be a self-esteem booster. I don't know. Let him think what he wants.

Of LSU's top 100 prospects (per Rivals) for 2010, there are 11 O-Linemen listed and Lindsay is not one of them.

All that matters is that the guy chose Bama. How or why isn't really important as of April 2009.

He's not a Russell Shepard-type player. LSU does not have challenges recruiting O-lineman. There are players waiting to hear from LSU.

Thanks for bringing some rationale.

That's the kinda stuff that makes the respected posters around here respect you.
