This is debatable. If he actually gets a scholarship this fall, then that will settle it. I think we have signed the max and he can only come as a pay his own way walk-on or as a greyshirt.

IMO, that's not how the SEC is implementing the rule. They are treating LOI=Initial counter. Could be wrong, but that's what all the circumstantial evidence points to. No one has been able to point to an example where an SEC school is implementing the policy as you suggest.

I don't think they are saying that. You just can't sign any more to LOI's than 25 plus however many you have room to count back. But there is no rule requiring anyone to sign a LOI to get a scholarship.
It's also possible that the two spots we thought we had but didn't use actually were available and being held for someone like McNeil.

hard to say, again goofy language...

Each SEC member institution is limited to signing 25 football prospective student athletes to a National Letter of Intent, Conference financial aid agreement and/or institutional offer of athletics financial aid from December 1 through May 31st of each year.
It's true that signing a scholarship agreement is the same as an LOI from a 25 perspective, i.e. early entrants. However, it appears you could offer a player who hasn't signed an LOI after May 31st if you have an initial counter slot.

GraviTiger and ForeLSU,
There have been several discussions on this. One can be found at the following link:
Page 9 of a thread on Lawson-just read down the page
This really is only opinion as there hasn't been any definitive proof either way. But at this point I believe the rule is being implemented more restrictive than written. As I've said previously, if one of these kids actually sign by this fall it will decide it, but I don't think they can.
