I know that people frown upon saying anything negative about a recruit, but it's ridiculous that he says just the other day that he's "100% committed", and then he decommits almost immediately.

I have no issues with him wanting to reopen is recruitment, if he feels like he's not a fit in this class anymore, or whatever the case may be. But to say one thing, and right afterwards do the opposite? That's beyond silly. I was his age 15 years ago. I remember what it was like. It wasn't hard to be honest.

The kid is being asked to look around from all accounts.

I did read the thread. And there is no way he JUST found out that there might not be room for him. To say you're 100% committed, and then decommit is just silly. I think he already knew he was going to do this, and that's fine, but he could have been honest the other day. Instead, he chose not to be.

What about the possibility that he was told to look elsewhere.

Verbal commitments are broken on both sides all the time in recruiting.

That is the ugly side of recruiting.

Kid wanted to be a tiger through and through. I'm sure it was devastating for him. Hope he has an amazing college career. Nothing but the best of wishes to Jalen Lee wherever he winds up.

Right, I get it. As I said, I have no problem with him looking elsewhere. I just want to know why he felt it necessary to be dishonest the other day when he was asked about it. I don't believe for a second that he just found out he is being processed. If Vol knew something was up, it's impossible for me to believe that Lee hadn't been informed well before today that this was happening.

Do any of you know how to read what I said? I said "I have no problem with him reopening his recruitment". I know kids get processed, or they feel that it's likely to happen, or whatever. I'm not mad that he decommitted. I just don't know why he just finished saying he was 110% committed, only to decommit right afterwards. This didn't just suddenly come to his attention. There's no way that internet forum dwellers knew something before he did.

I'd say. He's our best DE. Watch the games and check the stats. His stats double every other DE for the most part.

I said it the other night and I'll say it again, I don't agree with this move. I do however trust the staff to make the right decisions.

I know people don't like speculating which kids will be asked to look around but we all know it's gonna happen so it's only right/fair that we do. We're wrong a lot anyway. Who would've though Lee would be one? But let's try it another way, who's safe without a doubt?

It could be because he was being told different things by different staff members.

Just like how sometimes a player thinks they have a scholarship offer but it is not committable.

Miscommunication happens would be my guess.

I do know that Jalen wanted to be a Tiger.

Vol, were you at the Birmingham Marriott a couple weeks ago?

I’m sure we’ve crossed paths in some way or another.

Appreciate the insider info none the less.

I'm not doubting he wanted to be a Tiger. I just think it's been pretty obvious what was going on, considering we have a forum expert, who somehow knows just about everything that's going on, who said this was happening. There has to be a lot of smoke coming from some place, for Vol to know this. So I think that Lee had to know. But then we all get thrown for a loop when he reaffirms his commitment. And now this.

It's why I don't put stock in what people say until signing day. Not that I don't get excited about the possibilities, because I definitely do, when players commit. But aside from the players being "processed" you just never know what these kids are going to do.

U hit that on the head. I never heard anything about Lee being outed. I don’t think it was his decision. Any word on if his decision or coaches decision? Good job

Well I wish him the best wherever he lands. But that one sentence statement from him says a lot and since he didn’t thank the coaches or the university for offering him in the first place. One can easily surmise he is not happy right now and he truly wanted to come and play at LSU.

I really don’t like this part of recruiting, I wish the powers at be could figure out a way to stop this across the board at all schools. I know that is pie in the sky crap, but I wish they could figure it out.

And everyone predictably downvotes away, because I violated the sanctity of giant toddlers, apparently. People are so protective of other humans who are old enough to give an honest answer.

No wonder our society has zero accountability anymore. My grandmother got married at 17, never divorced, and had 7 kids. But today, 17 year olds are treated like little babies, and everyone makes excuses for them.

No, it’s because you are babbling about something you don’t have the facts about. Lay off the kid.

You better fricking land Burch if you ask this kid to look around. Although Burch or Webb arernet even the same position.

This is a dumb move.

So Vol knew what Lee, himself, did not? You have some wild detective skills.

Just because YOU believe this was a spur of the moment change in circumstances, does not make it so. Your logic works both ways.
