Have you heard anything about Olivia Lackie and LSU being on the talks at all?

I mean I know Holden is Class B but she's dominanted since she was a 7th grader there and is a sophomore? now I believe. One of the top pitchers in the state or close to it.

Could be mistaken but I thought she was or is committed to South Alabama

Pretty sure Beth recruited her, they were in talks before not sure exactly what happened or the reasons

LSU's 2020 class is already full

But she's a really good pitcher. I've only seen her play once but she throws a lot of strikes

All i know is that she’s supposed to very happy about South Alabama and that’s where she wants to be. Just what I hear from her peers, but I’ve learned from a few years of coaching that they aren’t always the greatest sources of information

She’s a special talent, not sure how she’s not going to end up at LSU but hopefully it works out for the best, for both sides.

She is 2020 correct?

Usually Torina takes one pitcher per class unless we graduate multiple pitchers.

Morgan Smith is supposedly well regarded. Well her offer list says she's very good and well respected

how hard does Olivia throw?

Honestly not sure. Only played her once, Wicker once, and Moon five times during the last two seasons, and I think she was easily the most dominant against us.

Unless Beth has a change of heart, she won’t be at LSU.

Agree. Sometimes it's about more than the talent

Thus, the reason for my edit earlier.

If she was 2019 Beth would easily take Lackie over Taylor Edwards out of De La Salle

She's been a mess lately on the mound the last two years

I disagree. Not on taylor being a mess, but on taking lackie. There are “issues”.

Taylor jumped ship from Voodoo about a year and a half ago after being committed to LSU. She got a bit of commitment disease. Most kids go through it. But not having Coach Barksdale breathing down her neck all summer and fall is hurting her.

I know there are some issues, I know Beth had some interest well she liked her a lot at first I know that. I don't know the specifics she doesn't like on her mechanics

but Beth is very particular about what she looks for in pitchers

Isn't Taylor playing for Texas Bombers?

Well this is a major problem, that could possibly put her way behind at LSU. Who coaches her now? I've heard Taylor is on a tight leash, not sure how much tighter it could be based off her work ethic as of now

hope she can turn it around but she's a concern for the 2019 class, pretty sure all if not most the top pitchers are already committed

Wrong kinda issues. Kid is a legit P5 pitcher committed to south Alabama. Her backup (not a knock on Emma. She’s a great ball player from a great family) at both Holden and Blazers in committed to ULL.

She is. And I’m sure the kid is working hard now. But there is working hard, and then there is Jesse Barksdale and Jeff Burns hard. Different planets. Don’t know that she is getting that same kind of motivation now. She may be. But it doesn’t seem that way from how she has performed of late.

Shame I think she will be a really good one at the next level, wish LSU could have her. Curious what Beth didn't like about her exactly

I saw Raelin Chaffin threw a no hit no run game vs North DeSoto earlier today, 14K's and 0 walks

But yea Taylor has been drilled all season this year, she isn't even the damn ace at her hs as of now

Not sure how Beth could hand out a scholarship to that if there aren't major changes soon. NSD is 8 months way.

She got hammered last year too in HS.

Beth handed her a scholarship 3 years ago I think...maybe 2...time runs together. Anyway, she was in Florida at a showcase and hit legit 67 on the gun. For her age at the time, it was worthy. Beth has a “65” rule. But this is just one of those cases why baseball has it so much better figured out. Offering scholarships to 9th, 8th, and even 7th graders (looking at your Florida) in a sport that kids play 10 months a year and are susceptible to burn out and injury from overuse is crazy.

Florida already has 2023 and 2024 commits its frickn insane

honestly I don't approve of how the recruiting is done now, its hard to measure where kids end up down the load and like you say between injuries and kids burn out etc.

On paper now LSU has some awesome talent on the way but who know what it will look like in two or three years.

I kinda wish commits can commit as a junior at the earliest. I think it would be healthier for the sports. The kids can focus on development and coaches will actually be able to realistically evaluate and project talent.

Unfortunately LSU can't stop it until someone steps in, if not we lose out on top kids. It is what it is.

I just don't see how Beth can still with any consciousness hand her a scholly if she keeps it up

Really hope Kilponen and Wickersham can kill it for us we will need it

Going to look these guys up, thanks. Always looking to find out how top coaches run programs

Disappointing to me as a HS coach that we have literally nothing to do with the college process for these kids. Not because I want a feather in my cap, but because we have college players and players with college aspirations, but we are placed on the back burner behind travel teams and showcases. Very frustrating when kids don't place your program as a priority because they know colleges aren't going through schools to recruit them. Its unlike any other sport that I know of.
