Kid is straight class, and you can see it in the way he was raised and how he/family handled the process. I said this a year ago, he's one of my favs in this class and will be a beast in P&G.

I love the way wildman and his wife handled the process. They did their own research and compiled profiles and then let coaches out their pitch in. Then they matched up what the coaches were saying with the facts they had and compared. Brilliant!
Also that tidbit about Garrett and Lonergan was gold and should be emphasized by the parents of Louisiana recruits.

Wildman, I would have supported GB regardless of where he chose to play ball. Thank goodness it was the Good Guy's.

That's how you raise a boy into a man

must have been saban, he's always guilt tripping kids about something. him being too fraile to man up to wildman makes sense too.

Saban would make no sense. He has a good relationship at University, there was never any smoke around Bama for Saban to think he had a better shot than he did...seems to me the only one that would cry about it would be FL. But I doubt that as well, it just doesn't match a big boy football personality.

This kind of bullshite and the lies urban/ manipulations of kiffin should be penalty worthy IMO

As the article states, the parents did the homework and sniffed out the rats as best they could. If you read between the lines, Bama, FL, and LSU made the top three. I would think those coaches had the most character of the recruiters, and represented things as up front as they could.

Unfortunately some kids don't have a plan for dealing with the process and can be swayed pretty easily, look at our own Valentine and his four diff commitments. It can be a daunting process with a lot of pressures if not handled correctly.

I had a recruiter do the same thing to me way back when. It was a USL assistant angry that I wouldn't give them an official visit.......I was being recruited by much bigger programs. Guy was way out of line and an a-hole.

ETA: this kid just impresses the shite out of me. a leader in the making.

Congrats to the family and GB. The article was very insightful as I will be "in the midst" of recruiting shortly for my son (baseball). LSU has always been his #1 choice but I don't know how that will pan out. He is a Soph and has one verbal to a D1 already.

Wildman if you ever have a moment, I would love to have a conversation with you regarding the whole process.

He and his parents are a cut above the rest. This experience will go along way in molding this young man's future. They did their homework and now it will pay off for them and LSU. Thank you! One can only wish more parents cared as much as his parents, this country would be far better off.

This kid is crazy impressive for his age. I forget I'm listening to a 16-18 year old during his interviews. He comes off like a media-savvy 35 y/o nfl vet. Absolutely love that he will represent LSU for the rest of his life.

man, would love to know that name.

Really enjoyed reading that article, and 2/3 years from now, when the Bama game's tight, and I look out there and see Garrett Brumfield rallying that team to get it done, it's going to put me at ease.

Having been lucky enough to get to know wildman over the years, I wouldn't want him terse with me. Great kid from a great family, one son played alongside him and the other got to bang heads with him in practice every day, and they are both big fans of his. So happy I'll get to keep on watching him.

Very well written article.

Shows us how it's hard for these kids to choose when everyone is running interference.
