who do you think pulls and block on toss sweeps? also, who do you think lead blocks for HB screens?

no, guards HAVE to be mobile to get out in front of the back in certain situations.... this is one reason that you don't see sumo wrestlers coming over, in droves mind you, to the NFL.... they are powerful and explosive for about 3 seconds, but as an offensive lineman you have to be mobile enough to get to the second level of defenders, especially at guard.....

you are right about the not expecting a guy to run 5.0 when he weighs 340..... he's too fat.... he needs to trim down, and gain some speed....

So the 40 yard dash determines a guards mobility? Phil Loadholt is a good size comparison and he ran a 5.5 40 at the NFL combine. Loadholt was also a former JUCO prospect and was mobile enough to start at LT for the Sooners.

OL and 40's don't go together. Maybe a 10yard to see explosiveness. If he's running 40 yards then something is wrong.

I love looking at 40 times just like most people on here but some think it is the measuring stick for everything. I could hear the complaints when the staff offers a punter who can't run a 4.5 40.
