I said it yesterday and I'll say it again. ely is no world beater, he is not a must get for us. assuming z. lee stays (at least 3 years)ely wouldn't see the field until at least 4 years down the road. if he goes to bama he won't beat out sims so it doesn't hurt us that way either.
nothing here, move on to the Z. Lee date.

Inside sources = random messageboard posters who have no idea either way.

There are quite a few people that have preferred Rivers to Ely.
As far as college coaches go, Bama preferred Ely to Rivers and LSU likely did as well...but hopefully it works out for us.

I don't understand what the fuss is about this kid at this point. If we get him fine if not we have Rivers and whoever we sign next year. He won't make or break this class.

Nothing else is going on. We've got 25 days till kickoff and we've prob got continuing QB issues. We are shitting our pants hoping ZLee doesn't sign and are hoping that every talented QB that looks at us signs with us.

rivers is a more of a project then ely---imo

we have plenty of time to develop rivers. if ely doesn't go to LSU it further points out that crowton is not a top notch recruiter and his offensive performance is hurting us. no way we should be "all up in arms" over the recruitment of a 3 star qb, a guy who originally was probably not in our top 5 qb prospects.

I think it signifies something much worse.

4*, #5 pocket passer in the country.
He may be no world beater, but he's hardly an average recruit.

I'm in the minority on Rivers as far as Bama fans go. I wish we would have given him a shot. Just based on measurables and genetics alone, he's worth the chance.

geeze, make it stop!
I guess texas was upset they lost r.p. and winded up with their back up option in (three star) colt mccoy. there go's that angle as well.
i don't think we need two qb's in this class. i wouldn't turn ely away if he wanted to come. i certaintly wont lose any sleep if he doesn't.
I think both he and rivers are comparable. both have things they do well and not so well. neither is a home run or sure flop. rivers has size and pedigree. however, lacks mechanics and physical/mental development. Ely show's accuracy and a live arm, however lacks size and plays on a more talented team. (this is important because talented players around you can make you look better than you are). you dump a pass to wilder and he takes 80 yards to the house. makes your passing look good.

I don't care if we get Ely, I just don't want Bama to get him. I don't want Bama to beat us at anything.
