quote:Arch is definitely more physically talented that Ewers, but who is to say how good he is playing until he does? Ewers threw for almost 3500 yards and 31 TDs last year and he didn't play vs two of the worst teams on his schedule. Would have probably put him at 4000 passing with 37 TDs. I will say this though, his int problem even after 3 years starting, was concerning. Also, he just never really "took over" games since he beat Alabama in 2023 and Florida last year. I guess you could say the Arizona St game, but if you add in Oklahoma St in 2023, the guy had four truly impressive games in 3 years.
Based on what I saw on the field last year, Arch is considerably better than Ewers.
Compare that with Burrow and Daniels. Sure Burrow didn't really do much at all his first year here except for his last two games. Those two games were his take over games. They showed the playmaker ability. They showed the toughness and grit. The very next year, every single game he took over. Daniels had already started before at Arizona St, so he had more take over games his first year. Despite the entire team and coaches trying to lose the game vs FSU, Daniels was the only offense and defense we had. Had they gone for 2, we would have went to OT, and there was no stopping JD5. Games vs Florida, Ole Miss, and Bama year one showed you he has that "it" factor, that heisman caliber play. Then all of his heisman year, just like Burrow, he took games over. He was the run game and passing game.
This Arch Manning lovefest reminds me of an even more ridiculous version of the love fest Ewers got his first year in Texas before any games were played.

Ewers was a 7th round draft pick. He did not have a good season.

Arch Stats vs only real high school he played not in 1A, U High:
9 of 22 for 82 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 Fumble. 18 carries for 40 yards, 2.1 yards per carry.
Arch stats vs Power 4 teams that finished above 2-10 (so not Miss St):
19.3 QBR (which would put him dead last in FBS). Yes there is a lack of stats in this criteria, but he will not be nearly what Paul Finebaum thinks.
I personally love, love, love that his 1st real game as a starter is at Ohio St. I think he gets absolutely disheveled. Final stat line opinion vs Ohio St: 14 for 28, 144 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs.
