So you want to recruit him for 3 years and give him an ultimatum that he has to sign 2 months earlier than he wanted to because you realize he's a really big long shot at this point and you can't be left with your dick in your hand again by Alabama and need to go get some DL's in this class, even if they aren't Sopsher's caliber?

FIFY and yes.

And recruiting is sales, and one of the oldest tricks in the salesman's book of tricks is urgency. "This deal ends soon!".

Its a last ditch effort because we are almost positive if we wait until February, it won't happen for us.

That would be like buying a Ford and you got similIar deals and when weighing your options one said- look if you don’t make a decision right now then the deal is off the table. I would laugh and go to the other dealership.

Then you save the scholarship and load up on next years talented class.

I agree. Maybe insecure is the wrong way but we knew from Day 1 that this battle was going to go to the wire. Bama seems to be leading right now so why would we rush the decision?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to continue to recruit him and his family and see if an 18 year old will change his mind?

It’s too late in the game to replace him with someone that would be just as good as him. At this point it would be smarter to save the scholarship or the final two scholarships (him and Rodney) and try to load up next year on talented guys.
