Could football recruiting turn into this?

We all laugh when Lane Kiffin gets a 14-year-old to commit, but in the softball ranks apparently that's mainstream -- LINK
How much longer until this starts happening in the big sports?

So you're question is when will it happen in the "big sports?"
but you already cited the commit of a 14 year old to USC in college football.
So, was it a rhetorical question? Or do you not consider college football a "big sport?"

No, I mean it's not every day in college football that a high school freshman commits. But apparently it's that way in softball.

I see. Thanks for the clarification

I thought shite like this happened in basketball all the time. And I would say basketball is a major sport.

No. First off, girls are physically mature much sooner so it's much easier to get a read on them earlier.
Next, in certain sports like basketball, coaches are looking for the raw abilities. Size and strength are much less involved. For football, outside of the QB position, size and other physical attributes delay the process for a few more years.

It's pretty close to that already in basketball.

WTF? So by your "theory" girls D1 basketball should be taking commitments from high school freshman as common practice.
Just not true. NO humans are developed as a freshman. But with a qb, if hieght is there, along with fundamentals, it doesn't matter what happens really, he'll not forget how to throw it. But he may never turn into the physical specimin needed to compete at the highest level.

Idk but if Les Miles accepted a commitment from Elliot Berry right now, I wouldn't be upset.
