Do the verbal commits have to sign in December ? Or their status is changed

No, but they may want to do that they can save their spot or end the process

They can sign in February. But, a verbal commit can be told to look elsewhere if the school chooses to do so.

They don't have to sign at anytime, its not that kind of commitment....

They have the option to sign early in December or take more visits or time to make the right choice until signing day in February
