We do need another MLB. Someone said that we only have ONE MLB. He is right. Minter is a true MLB, but we may have to move Barrow, Muncie and Welter to the middle and make these younger guys more speedy MLB's.
Trey Granier makes this situation better, long term, but a lot can happen between now and 2012.
Ryan Baker 6-1 220 sr
Josh Johns 6-1 215 so
Trevon Randle 6-1 210 fr
Kevin Minter 6-1 230 jr
Lamin Barrow 6-2 220 so
Luke Muncie 6-3 225 so
DJ Welter 6-0 230 fr
Stefoin Francois 6-1 220 sr
Karnell Hatcher 6-2 210 sr
Tahj Jones 6-2 220 so
Rocky Duplessis 6-2 215 so
PS, I fudged a lil bit on these weights. Tahj Jones has got to get up to 220, so I am putting that as his weight.
Interesting thing to look at is: will Chavis move R Baker to the inside on some plays? If Hatcher proves to play LB like H Coleman or S Francois (since we already have 7 safeties w/o him there), we can have speed and Senior leadership in the LB Corps as:
Francois OLB
Baker MLB
Hatcher OLB

let me poke a few holes in your post....
first realistic weights in bold above..
ok...
Chavis loves Hatcher at safety
Rocky D. is still at the safety position
T. Jones is still under 200lbs
J Johns plays behind on the same side as Francios
Chavis told T Randle that he was starting off in the Middle..
L. Barrow plays behind Baker

Holes poked; my feelings are crushed.
Don't you think these guys can add the necessary weight? Francois can add 5 to get to 217, right?
And don't take LSUsports.com's weights for fact, either. Weights fluctuate weekly.

i completely agree with you. if Keke can get up to 230 that quickly in LSU's program, then i do not doubt any players ability to add weight. francois was 185 lbs out of high school so its not like he didnt put on any weight to get where hes at. i believe all the linebackers add around 10 lbs across the board minus maybe minter and baker. just my thoughts i have no sources or anything.

looked like Hatcher finally got benched for younger guys in the bowl game so hopefully Chavis' love affair with Mr Friendly Fire at safety could be over

I talked to an OM fan and he knows Johnson's mom. He told me Johnson is big on keeping his word and staying close to home. I think that will keep him in MS and at MSU. I would however love to see him at LSU and I think Chavis could mold him into a great player.

There is a chance CJ commits to Ole Miss today or tomorrow and cancels his LSU visit.

So you are saying there is a chance!!!
Where is your info coming from?

That would be the biggest shitty-arse BS news I've heard.
I'll really be crushed if LSU doesn't get this guy. I think he could be all the difference in our Defense being #1 in the nation for the next few years.
If he does cancel his visit, I will hold off on the tears and gnashing of teeth at least till signing day b/c we could somehow someway pull in another top notch MLB to add to the class.......I don't think it'll compare to CJ tho.

How is Nutt selling these kids?

Nope, more like......."Here son, go buy your mama a Benz so she can get to that new high paying job that she miraculously got, and next year, you can get yourself an Escalade."
I keep hearing about Johnson's "Mississippi Pride", but honestly, at some point you've got to think that a guy like him sits down and decides that pride is one thing, but looking out for his own best interests is another. Thats why these package deals with 2 or 3 friends that want to play together often don't work out.
You go to the school that gives you the best opportunity to:
1. get an education
2. get playing time as soon as you are ready
3. stand out and play against the best competition
4. play for coaches you like and who are known for developing NFL talent
5. be on a team that plays for Conf Champs*
6. Play for Crystal Footballs*
7. be at a school with great facilities
8. be surrounded by talent, it make you look good
9. get media attention
10. get experience and skills to prepare for NFL
11. attract attention of NFL scouts
12. play for fanatic fans in the best stadium in college football
13. play somewhere with a tradition of excellence.....like 2 BCS NC in the last 7 years
14. be close enough to home where you can visit family and they can come watch you on gameday AND be on TV often for friends/family who can't be at games
I could keep going, but LSU has all of those things. Ole Miss and Miss State offer nearly nothing. In fact, the only things that I can think of that they offer are being slightly closer to home, staying in home state, and being a bit more of a standout because you're surrounded by less talent......but who wants to be the star of a shitty defense? You might make some good plays, but you'll still look bad overall and everyone will be disappointed in you. At LSU we have high expectations, but why would you want any less.
Anyway, I really hope he has sat down and thought about this logically.....LSU is, by far, the best choice.
* - This right here would be the kicker for me. Ole Miss and Miss State are simply not going to win the SEC in the next 4-5 years, and everyone know that. They sure aren't going to win a BCS-NCG. So for me, it wouldn't even be a choice......pick the team that will likely win a conference championship and is a legitimate BCS contender nearly every single year.
