I think there is a huge interest in us, and if he is waiting til the AA game, that gives us plenty of time to keep on him

He has been committed since early October and hasn't waivered yet. FWIW Some of the high school coaches in MS that I know think he is all MSU.

I just hope this is not MSU trying to get on the national scene.

*MULLEN: Hey C.J., want to help us out?
*C.J.: Sure, I'm solid
*MULLEN: Why don't you announce at the Army AA game, it will get MSU some national publicity!
*C.J.: That is a great idea. Let's do it.
*Mullen: It will increase public interest if you seem interested in other big programs.(LSU, Michigan, Alabama.) And then pick MSU at the game.
*C.J.: No problem coach

Anyone else getting this vibe?

in state kids picking OM or State over big OOS programs isn't a big deal.

It's really not a big deal, but it can be used as a recruiting tool. You see where I'm going with the above post. I'm not saying I know that to be the case, but it's not far fetched either.

I don't see Johnson signing with MSU at all. He has said multiple times that he is only 65 or 75% committed to MSU.

One time he even talked about how ugly MSUs facilities were and how they are the worst he's seen.

If I had to bet, I'd say he signs with LSU. I think us Vols are in 3rd or so for him.

he told tigerbait on June 5th he is 65% committed.

But you are right about what he said about MSUs facilities coming from rebelgrove. He did go in detail on it though. Kinda funny.

He stated before he got a MSU offer and committed that he wanted to sign with LSU. That was very early in the process though.

Just read a new article on C.J. today on the MSU ESPN site. He said that he is solid on MSU and has been talking to other recruits from Mississippi trying to get them to come to Mississippi State. Sure doesnt sound anything like what some of you on here are saying about him wanting to flip over to LSU.

He said he hasnt been to any camps this summer, but he will be at MSU's Big Dawg Camp on July 24th mainly to talk to other MSU recruits and commitments.

Also mentions keeping in touch with MSU's LB coach and D-Coordinator Manny Diaz about him coming in next year at MLB.

He also had an article in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger the other day about how solid he is with Mississippi State.

It didn't take MSU long to target C.J. Johnson as one of Mississippi's must-have recruits from the Class of 2011.

The Bulldogs didn't have to wait much for a verbal commitment, either. The Philadelphia HIgh linebacker committed to State near the midpoint of his junior season last October.

"I'm real close with (ex-Philly teammate) Josh Boyd, then I got to tailgate with Fletcher Cox, Tyler Russell, Chad Bumphis and all those guys. It's just a great atmosphere. They show a lot of enthusiasm for football.

"It's only about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Philadelphia, so it's close to home. I can still look after my mom."

Ole Miss, USM, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Tennessee have continued to show interest, but Johnson insists his decision is set. Signing day is Feb. 2.

"I'm very solid," he said.

heard those words plenty, and the fact that he is still picking a team at the army game leaves room for concern

Not to me, he will just be giving Mississippi State pub on National TV buy putting on our hat instead of LSU, Ole Miss, or Bama.

Yeah, I just thought it interesting that he had 4 east coast schools listed and LSU as his top five. LSU just seems out of place on that list of schools. I think that bodes well for us, but that's really just conjecture.
