I don't think any program is going to finish 1st or 2nd for almost a decade and half going forward. We might not see another run like bama has been on again in our lifetime. To do that going forward a program will need a living legend at head coach, sustained success on the field, and incredibly deep pockets.
When Saban finally retires the playing field will be closer to level. Teams will take turns buying the #1 class. LSU just needs to be consistent and finish in the top 10. Get the best players they possibly can and then develop them. That will keep in the mix every year.

Long time was 1958 to 2003. Nobody from 1958 to 2003 thought they would ever see 3 national championships in their lifetimes.
