This hybrid sport is good for identifying corners and safeties. It also lets WRs showcase their athleticism. But it's not very useful for QBs and LBs. QBs face no pressure and LBs don't have to read pass.

Couldn't be further from the truth. The passing lanes and speed of the game differ greatly from what these kids typically see--closer to the next level. QB's have to anticipate throws, make quick reads, and the pressure is intense.

Linebackers are forced to work in space, get proper depth in their drops and are forced to cover much more athletic receivers and backs.

They don't get hit. They don't even get a hand in their face. Jesus Christ, the only pressure they have is a guy with a stop watch

It's the pressure that comes from the competition and moment. Go watch and see for yourself.

I watch it for six weeks every summer. It's nothing like the pressure they face on Friday.

Work on space after never taking a primary run read or misdirection from linemen, so its an instant spot drop. Again, nothing like Friday nights.

On unrealistic routes that take way too long to develop when nobody can send five guys out because nobody can protect for an eternity with just five linemen. Or those one or two yard passes to get a first down where there would normally be a center and a tackle.

Bruh....don't be that guy. It's offseason, the competition level is not what you see in district play, and no one is arguing it's identical to pad ball.

So, you've never seen anything like this before? That's what you're telling me. There will be 180+ Division I kids competing for more than high school bragging rights. This is a different level of competition than what you're speaking of.

All I did was back up this post, because its pretty much spot on

Ok. If you think there is comparable talent playing district summer 7on7 then you simply haven't seen the event. This thing looks like the opening squads when they go 7on7.

Who argued it's identical to pad ball? No one. It's useful. Disagree?

Fine, but ask yourself if it is coincidence or not that California Texas and Florida produce so many d1 qbs and they also have travel 7on7 youth and high school leagues.

Baton Rouge is just getting into the scene, and I can tell you that we are seeing big improvements in some kids because of the extra reps. Especially in youth ball they rarely get the chance to work on the passing game once the pads go on.

Why are you so sour about it? Img isn't hosting the event and stealing players, actually many of these recruits are visiting lsu tommorow.

Did jimmy cut your son or something?

I haven't seen this event, I was referring to 7on7 as a whole. But I coach at 7on7 on the same fields that guys like LF7 and Tyron Johnson play on during the summer, not just district tournaments. Again, not directed at the event, but the "sport" as a whole.

Again, see previous posts.

It's useful.

For QB/WR/DB, sure. It's much more useful when it's used to actually work on your system, but that's seldom the case when you send out 5 guys every play. And then it gets ridiculous when you see routes that simply can't happen in games due to linemen or timing or protection, that's when you really have to ask how it's making the game better on Friday.

I'm not sour on anything. I spend weeks coaching it. I think some of the points that were made about QB pressure and LB play are laughable, that's all.

My two cents....I enjoy being able to watch instead of having to organize. It's a spectator sport. Lots of action.

For these events, I agree. When you are trying to coach a system and get your kids to understand rules and such, and then you play teams that are more concerned about winning meaningless tournaments than getting better, its maddening.

Anyway you can give us an update when you're not busy? I've seen a few clips of the 2019 guys making plays and Jalen Green with some lock down coverage.

Also heard Muddbone is in the grill.
