Bubba, you think we will see some action earlier this class when it comes to commits?
Posted on 8/13/12 at 12:51 pm to Joe Mantegna
I don't know. We are after some big names, that will decide late. I could see Jones deciding early. I'll look into it a little further.

Tony Trocha will enter school in December
He will be eligible to play the second semester. He has not released a school or visit list. When he does, if LSU is included, I will add him to the 2013 list.

Well he would be a huge addition for SEC play. sounds like we would have to contend with some real heavyweights though. Was there ever any real mutual intrest with him?

I think the interest is just from Robert Kirby recruiting him at Georgetown. I don't know if there is any interest in LSU, or if we were just in a long line of mentioned names. He will be taking visits in the fall, so we shall see.

Will Mickey Follow His Brother to Baton Rouge?
LSU has a huge visitor on campus this week in 2013 forward Jordan Mickey of Arlington Grace Prep (TX). The No. 51 player in the Rivals150 is seriously considering the SEC school for a number of reasons.
Johnny Jones and the Tigers have the advantage of LSU being the home to Mickey's older brother, James Wright, who plays on the LSU Football team. This has led to the family visiting campus a number of times in recent years.
While he has yet to cut his college list, it looks like Ohio State, SMU, Louisville and the Tigers are making a strong impression. West Virginia, Providence, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, TCU, Texas A&M and more are also involved.

Jordan Mickey is currently visiting LSU and plans to hit Oklahoma State and SMU next week before ultimately cutting his list at the end of the month.
“We’re still at LSU right now, it’s going great,” James Wright, Jordan’s father, told SNY.tv Friday. “Jordan’s on an unofficial hanging out with some of the basketball players. We came down and watched the football team scrimmage.”
James Wright Jr. is a junior wide receiver at LSU.
The 6-foot-9 Mickey, the Rivals No. 20 power forward in the Class of 2013 out of Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep, will visit Oklahoma State and then SMU next week.
“Actually we’ll be going to Oklahoma State when we get back home,” James Sr. said. “Probably Monday. We’ll come right back and then go to SMU Tuesday.”
As previously reported by SNY.tv, Louisville, Ohio State and SMU are certain to make Mickey’s final list of five or six.
Numerous other schools, including LSU, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Providence, TCU, Arkansas and Alabama are in the mix for the final two or three slots.

Tim Quarterman
LSU has offered Tim Quarterman, but he has over a dozen major offers. He is supposedly announcing his finalists by the end of the month. If we make the cut, I will add him to the list.

David Taylor leading German U18 team.

Germany U18 - Poland U18 74:52
Germany stays in the fight to remain in U18 European Championship in Division A. They defeated Poland today to improve at 3-1 record in relegation round Group G. Poland slipped at 0-4 record and lost the chance to stay in top division for next year. David Taylor (188-PG-95) scored 14 points to lead the winners.
Germany eked out a 22:15 lead after ten minutes. Poland lived up to the challenge and turned the tables in the second quarter. They went on a run to take a 35:34 halftime lead. Germany stiffened defensively in the third quarter. They held Poland to just 5 points in the period and grabbed a 50:40 lead into the fourth frame. Germany scored 24 points in the final frame and sealed a comfortable win at the end. Malik Mueller (188-G-94) accounted for 11 points, while Dominic Lockhart (197-F-94) and Johannes Thiemann (203-F-94) added 10 points each in the victory. Damian Jeszke (202-PF-95) answered with 13 points for Poland. Mikolaj Witlinski (207-F/C-95) had 9 points in the loss.

Shepherd one of the highest risers of the summer.

Karviar Shepherd, 6-9, C, Grace Prep (Texas)
It was a case of out of sight, out of mind for Shepherd (pictured), as he sat out his junior season of high school following a transfer to Grace Prep. There weren’t any signs of rust in Shepherd’s playing during the spring and summer, as he showed himself to be a highly-skilled, true post player worthy of recruitment at the high-major level. A double bonus for college coaches is that his teammate at Grace Prep, power forward Jordan Mickey, is also a high-major prospect. There are only a handful of centers in the 2013 class who can step in and play heavy minutes as freshmen, and Shepherd appears to be one.

Not sure of the family dynamic. Mickey has been in Texas for years. Either a divorce or half-brother situation.
