Tiger Forums is reporting the Bama stuff has some legs to it..

apparently they have been "quietly" recruiting Ely for sometime..just finally offered.

I guess we will find out soon enough

Lord knows we need a break in landing talented QB's

Is Bama a good spot for him? How many qbs do they have signed for the future compared to LSU?

We'll only have 2 after this year, McCarron and Sims. We really need to get a QB in this class since Star Jackson left. Ely is about as good a QB as we could hope for given that all the other good ones are committed elsewhere. I'd be very happy with a commitment from him today.

I will be shocked if we get him. I think he will be a tiger. Whether it be Clemson or LSU

Winston? Yeah, he's held in high regard by many recruiting analysts. There is also the kid out of Georgia, Greyson Lambert, that has been doing really well. Both of them are considered strong Bama leans at the moment.

The problem is that they are 2012 recruits and if something were to happen to McCarron and Sims, we wouldn't have a QB on scholarship for 3rd string spot next year. That is why I am really hoping we pick up a QB in this class.

I can't find the post Nostradamus wrote yesterday evening, but I looked back through his posts and he doesn't appear to be a stirrer of shite. He appears to be a die-hard LSU fan. So I wouldn't be so quick to write off what he says.

If Z. Lee stays at LSU I don't really care where this young man goes I'd like him to pick us though.

It'll be Bama or Ole Miss. LSU and Clemson are out of it. Still hearing Bama from my guy but lots of other people are saying Ole Miss so who knows?

Like someone said though, with Lee (knocks on wood) staying, Rivers committed and the possibility of a 2nd more athletic QB committing, this loss isn't huge. The worst possible outcome would be if he does go to Bama and it opens things up for them with Wilder; now THAT would be terrible.

I would be surprised if a commitment by Ely to Bama had any influence on Wilder. He's all UF or FSU according to the pundits and Ely won't change that.

O I'm not saying an Eli commitment to Bama makes them the favorite but it gives them a nice in and you can't ever count Saban out.

A question about your source: Was he connected to LSU, BAMA, or the region Plant hs is in?

A little of both, regional HS source of mine at a program I used to work with combined with an LSU source confirming that it wouldn't be LSU.

I've worked at many HS programs throughout GA, SC and NC so I can usually get pretty decent info on kids from those areas.
