What's the scoop on this guy?

Looks to me like a good player, but I have not heard much about him.

Hes a legit Sunbelt athlete, not sure if hes big enough to play TE. Hes played RB and WR and done it well for a couple years now.

Hes got fire, I believe he was in the middle of a big fight during a basketball game his sophomore year. (Hes also a really good basketball player)

Scout, I believe this is really old cause Im almost positive hes bigger and taller than whats listed.

(Jr.) Caught 34 passes for 475 yards & 6 TDs to go with 826 yards rushing & 8 TDs on 132 carries during the regular season

(So.)Caught 53 passes for 930 yards and 8 touchdowns

So based upon little clips of one player you can determine whole entire teams are terrible? Damn, quick on the draw based on little evidence to downgrade a high school kid (and opposing teams) aren't we?

He's good enough for D1. I think he could he even go to a small SEC school. Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky.

Thats Sonny's coaching not his talent. His coach Sonny who I played for always makes more with less. Sonny is a offensive high school guru and makes kids play above and beyond. Kid is Sunbelt material hopefully he can stay home at ULL

When did you play for Coach Sonny, Lone? I'm an '04 grad and former Rebel Tight End.

He's a good kid that gives 100% all the time! Some of the competition in that video is not 4A football teams. I've seen him play in person the past couple of years and he is at best a Sunbelt player. Would make a good recruit for u-la la. He is nowhere near SEC talent, i.e. LSU, UF, AU, UGA etc. The 4A district his team plays in is not exactly as tough as it used to be. His team went into 4A and that district at a good time when most of the usual powers are having down years. Not downing the kid, but he would be better served at a u la-la/sunbelt or Southland conf. school.

Some clarification...

My understanding is he is playing out of position. He will not play as a running back in college.
Slot - Receiver - more likely Defense
(the name Steltz ring a bell?)

His coach Sonny was heard saying the he is the best recruit out of TCH since Jake Delhomme.

The terrible competition issue was addressed in another post. Keep in mind, the highlights were when he was a Sophomore and Junior. IMO the kid obviously has plenty upside.

IMO he's without a doubt D-1 material as he's currently listed on several major university sites as a 5th or 6th choice receiver.

Again, I am amazed at some of the super talent evaluators that post on the Rant. Some say this kid is not SEC material. He looks a lot like kid by the name of Stokley who played of USL. To the best of my knowledge it seems like he was one of Peyton Manning favorite targets when he was with the Colts and is now one of Jay Cutler's top targets at the Broncos.
