Alabama has 8 of the states top 10 recruits. That doesn't leave much for Auburn.
LSU signed 4 of the top 11 but besides Sedric Van Pran it was mostly by choice.
Ohio State only signed 3 of their top 10 but did sign 6 of the top 25.
What surprised me the most. Georgia only signed 1 of their top 25, with another commit not signed yet.
Clemson only signed 1 of their top 25, with most of the top recruits signing with South Carolina or committed.
Clemson and Georgia could very well end up with the top two classed this year. Maybe that fence around your home state isn't that important.

There isn’t much talent in Ohio or South Carolina so it makes sense that osu and Clemson look elsewhere

Yeah Ohio is one of the big 5 stares in recruiting. The obvious FL, TX, CA then GA and OH. Lot of people and prospects in OH.

Makes you wonder that if NYC prioritized football more just how many prospects would come from there.

You're an idiot. There's a reason why the top 10 from Louisiana typically sign with elite programs. That's why LSU's fence means something.

The talent in Louisiana year in and year out is exponentially better than South Carolina. But if you recruit the way Clemson and UGA do nationally then you have no fences.

Really, it’s been a uniquely different year in recruiting.
Alabama - usually they don’t sign a lot of their Top 10 in state kids because they recruit so well on a national level.
LSU - pretty typical that we clean up in state, 9 of the state’s Top 10 is a normal recruiting class. CEO has taken recruiting to a new level nationally which has resulted in fewer of the Top 10 signing up. Effectively, this has been year with lesser talent in state than usual.
Ohio St - just a guess but, they’re probably having a similar recruiting year like LSU. Ohio is almost always a talent rich state. For Ohio St to sign so few is a good sign that it was a down year talent wise for the home state.

The fence is very important. You just need to have several gates.

You are proving the point I was making. "But if you recruit the way Clemson and UGA do nationally then you have no fences"
Guess which two teams will probably have the top two classes this year?
Coach O is taking us nationally and it appears that is a good thing. Right now we have 4 kids from La. signed and I don't believe we will sign many in 2021. Times are changing. I love getting local kids but I believe our recruiting is going on a different level now. That fence is gone.

The important thing is to have the ability to keep the talent in state for when you have up years. Georgia is recruiting well despite losing out on top in state talent

Because the recruits from Georgia know better than the recruits from other states that Kirby Smart can't coach or develop talent, they readily commit to other schools outside of Georgia.

Now if the recruits from outside Georgia figured out the same thing those Georgia recruits already have figured out, Kirby Smart would be even more of a liability to Georgia.
