String trimmer head frozen

Ego battery trimmer. About 5 years old. String part is fine; took that off. I noticed it was slowing down and when I stopped it wouldn't turn again
Feels hard to move in my hand, I guess I can try removing the bolt but didn't have time yesterday because I had other stuff to get to.
Did I melt the motor? Maybe it's just time for an upgrade.

Not sure about a battery trimmer but a gas one is typically one bolt to pull the head off. From there, you can see if the shaft/cable spins freely. If it’s locked junk it.
Search Home Depot deal of the day for a week and watch for a sale to replace it.

Not sure about that brand but the most common thing to fail in these is a motor bearing and they are like $1 and not hard to replace. The rotor should just pull out of the stator and expose the top bearing. Shouldn’t have to do much of anything to expose the bottom bearing.

Not familiar with ego, but I am familiar with stihl.
My stihl started running rough and finally stopped. Started troubleshooting and removed the motor. Found several poles on the motor assembly had become unglued and wedged in the air gap.
And of course the assembly is discontinued.

I would bet something is physically binding the string head to the shaft. Be sure you don’t have some string or something that you picked up while using in wrapped around that area.
